Getting settled in Who: Finn and Helena When: Mid-morning Where: Helena's room
Helena was surprised that Finn actually let her alone to unpack her own things. It had required a lot of 'Daddy, I can do it myself' discussions, but he'd eventually left her alone and went to unpack his own things. It didn't take very long for her to situate each of her dresses on the hangers in the closet and putting her clothes away in the dresser was fairly easy too. The little braille labels on everything definitely improved her ability to move around the room and get things done without any assistance.
Once she had her things put away, she patted her thigh to summon her seeing eye-dog, Sundance. The German Shepherd moved to her side, nudging her hand with his head and Helena grinned at him. Or at least in his direction. "Come on, boy. Let's have a feel for what they've got in here." she said, slipping out of her shoes and putting them at the foot of her bed. With the dog's direction, she followed along towards the living room area of the room, the warm feel of the soft carpet on her feet. That drew another smile from her face. It was so much better to have carpet than hardwood floor. She enjoyed the texture of it far better.
That wasn't what caught her attention the most, however, it was the living trees and shrubs and the flowers around the room that she enjoyed. She could reach out in just about any point along the wall and feel them. The smells just made it all the better and though she couldn't see them, Helena didn't care. She could feel them and smell them and the image she created in her head said that they were beautiful.
After a few moments of marveling at the plants, she settled for laying herself out on the floor, stomach against the carpet in her jeans and t-shirt just taking in the feel of the carpet beneath her. Fingers clasping at the carpet slowly. If losing her sight had given her anything, it was the advancing of her other senses. Helena was utterly content to just lay there like that for the rest of the day.
Sundance took up his own seat near the edge of the couch, ears perked up and as always, listening.
