WHEN: Wednesday, October 2
WHERE: Bones safehouse
RATING|STATUS: TBD | In progress
Delilah was not having a good time in this house. She wasn't used to a place so small and so crowded with people all the time. She'd never lived with anyone other than her father and brother. She wasn't used to no one keeping tabs on her (except her brother), no one asking where she was going if she walked outside. She could probably leave for hours without saying anything and the only one who would mention it would be Alastair. For the first few days, she'd stuck to him like glue. He'd slept in her room that first night, but after he brought his boyfriend, she'd told them she was fine on her own. That wasn't entirely true, because even though she was reasonably sure that no one the house harbored ill intentions for her, it was still hard to relax. It felt like waiting for the other shoe to drop. After her father attacked Charlie and Alastair, Delilah was back on guard, but at least once they were back in the house, she seemed to have a purpose, at least a little bit. She helped the Healer who came in periodically to help their injuries heal faster, but outside of that, she felt like she was just taking up space. And for some reason, it seemed to be much harder to connect with everyone else, even though many of them were her age. So Delilah spent a lot of time in the yard or walking around the property. Sometimes she'd see ducks or other birds and bring food to throw to them, sometimes she'd sit in the garden, but not when one of the angry boys was out there. She left him alone. Not because she was afraid of him, she'd seen this one at Hogwarts and heard a lot about him from her housemates--more than enough to not feel intimidated by him, no matter how cute he was. No, she left him alone because he didn't look like he wanted to be disturbed. Today though, he didn't look angry when she walked around the side of the house and saw him. He was actually taking care of the garden, not destroying it. She considered saying something to him, but decided better of it and moved to keep going around to the door until she realized he knew she was there and stopped. "I wasn't watching you or spying or anything weird," she said, not realizing until it was too late that she was, in fact, being weird and awkward now, "I was just walking...around the house." Which was probably also weird. "It looks good out here now." She changed the subject quickly, but not quickly enough to save her from mortification. |
