It was different. It felt uncertain and questioning, unlike every time Alastair had kissed him before. He knew how he felt about Charlie, but this was the first time that he didn't know how Charlie felt about him. It was asking a question that neither of them could answer right now: what would happen to them? Alastair didn't know and Charlie didn't know either. Still, when the other man pulled him close, Alastair melted into the embrace and rested his forehead against Charlie's.
"Would you stay out here with me? Just for a little while longer?" he asked. He didn't want to go back inside but he wasn't sure he wanted to be left alone with his own thoughts either. He would make this work and he didn't need the time to doubt that.
