Still, not only was it a welcome distraction but it also paid to have the Sheriff owe him a favor, especially now with the things that were being planned. They were all on the same page in that concern but considering how things could turn out it certainly never hurt to have that extra protection.
Besides, collecting favors was like collecting information for those within the Camarilla. Both were not only currency but a bit of power.
Julian had of course been given instructions on things that were not allowed. He was really tired of hearing "No, Julian. Stay out their heads, Julian." Especially when one minute they wanted you to get into someone else's head for them and the next he was being told no. Not that he needed to go directly into anyone's head to pull out information. Not usually. It was just more fun that way. But it's not like he intended to do that with the younger kindred even before he was told no.
He did end up stuck in his own head and was staring at nothing really when Rhys walked in. When he did it was like a light snapped back on within Julian and he blinked before he smiled at the fledgling.
Julian was very clearly different from the other childe of Rusty that Rhys had met. For one he didn't look like he bathed in whiteout. Julian was pale, just because he had been in life but also from his slips of humanity from time to time, but not unreasonably so and his natural blonde hair was styled in a reasonable manner. The only thing they had in common was possibly the fact that Julian was also dressed in all black but it was the black of slacks, a button-down shirt, and shiny dress shoes. And it was very clear those bright blue eyes were sizing Rhys up.
"I'm glad to hear that you didn't take Tristian's awful advice on name changes."
