It was hard for the Gangrel to not sense that sudden anger. All Rook could do was watch Mab walk away. He knew there was nothing he could do because he knew there were no promises he could make right now that would make everything okay. He knew what the problem was because he knew Mab.
Things would have worked out so much easier if he had just mated Mab instead. He had waited for years for his instincts to shift that way but despite the bond they did have and the intimacy between them, it had never come. Now that he had meet Ash and the instinct and desire was there, Rook finally understood why. It was because he had always needed Mab. Mab had never needed him. Not in that way. Not in the way that he felt Ash did.
"It'll be fine." Whether he said it to reassure James or himself was unclear. Especially when he was still staring off towards the direction Mab had just disappeared towards. His focus eventually shifted and he looked over at James. "We all got work we should be doing."
