Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who:Anyone in NYC
What:50s themed Ice Cream Party!
When:The night after the chat
Where:Rachel and Kurts Apartment
Rating:N/A
Status:Open to all/threading

Although the idea had started out randomly, it had seemed like so much fun! So they had run with it, and she was really looking forward to having everyone over for the night. She knew it was going to be a lot of fun. She had gone out with Kurt earlier to pick up the stuff for their outfits as well as to stock up on Ice Cream, drinks and anything else they might need.

She had spent a while getting ready after she got home, because even a party at her own apartment required her to look good! It was essential. She had managed to find the dress she had found online the night before and when she had put it on, she felt amazing. She loved it! She checked her reflection in the mirror, smoothing the dress and admired the fabulous hair and make up job that Kurt had done on her.

She set about making sure everything was ready, everyone should start arriving soon and she couldn't wait!

"Well good, but be warned, it comes with strings attached," she looked serious for a moment, "it means when I have nobody to watch chick flicks with, or to whine to, i'll be giving you a call," she informed him and grinned

Hunter looked around them, making sure no one was paying attention, then turned back to Rachel with a grin. "I secretly love romcoms," he said, his voice conspiratorial. "When I was recovering from my surgery I watched a ton of them. So if you need a viewing buddy, I'm your guy."

"Now see this is just another reason why we are gonna be such good friend," she told him with a grin, "i've been wanting to re-watch 'A Walk to Remember' for ages, you might just get to watch it with me," she informed him, laughing softly

"I've never seen that one," Hunter admitted, eating another large spoonful of ice cream and talking around it. "The one I can watch over and over is 'The Cutting Edge', heh."

"I've never seen that one," she said, referring to his movie, "so I say we pick a day and have a veg out here on my couch, and we watch them both," she said

"It's an old one. 1992," Hunter said with a laugh. "It's about a figure skater who needs a partner for competition and ends up skating with a retired hockey player. And I love it."

Hunter took another bite of ice cream, licking syrup off his lower lip. "This sounds like an excellent plan to me," he said. "Can we have ice cream then too?" he asked with a chuckle.

"Ooh that sounds good!" she said, already liking the sound of the movie, "yeah we dedinitely need to do that, no question. And of course there'll be ice cream!" she laughed, "what would a romcom watching fun day be without ice cream?"

Hunter grinned widely at her. "This sounds awesome!" he exclaimed and then blushed when a couple people turned to look at him. "I'm excited about it, what can I say?" he said with a laugh. "We can order Chinese too, maybe. And make martinis."

"You are so my kind of friend!" she declared with a grin, "I love all of those ideas, so you have to let me know what days you're free and work best for you so that we can make it happen," she informed him, genuinely excited by the prospect of spending a day watching romantic comedies with her new friend.

"This next week is going to be a little busy because I have a diving meet to get ready for, but after that I can do most nights," Hunter replied, still smiling. He couldn't wait to do this, spend time with his great new friend. "A Wednesday maybe?"

"Works for me!" she smiled, "once your meet and everything is done and you have the time to make it happen, we'll do it, we'll have such a fun night," she assured him. "And where is your meet?" she asked, "maybe I can come watch and cheer you on!"

"Oh man, I can't wait," Hunter replied, bouncing a bit on his toes. Being able to hang out with someone like this was something he'd always wanted but had never really had, outside of with Sebastian at their place. It was just so novel, having friends.

"The meet is intrasquad," he told Rachel. "It's a preliminary before the real season starts. It's at Columbia, at Uris Pool, so right in your backyard."

"Me either," she grinned, she was really glad that she had found a bond with Hunter, something she'd never have though a year ago was possible.

"Well I will be there, cheering you on!" she told him with a grin, "everyone needs a cheering squad and I'm appointing myself as yours."

"I know I'll dive better with you there," Hunter replied with a bright smile. "I've never had anyone cheer for me," he added. "Not really. My dad came to a couple meets when I was in high school in Colorado, but he was more interested in giving me a critique than anything else."

"Well that just doesn't count," she said, "cheering sections don't critique, they encourage," she told him, "and that's what i'll do. I'll even make a sign!" she grinned brightly. One thing Rachel was good at was cheering on the people she cared about.

Hunter couldn't help but keep smiling. He wasn't sure he'd ever felt so buoyant or cheerful in his life. "You? Are awesome," he said, abruptly pulling Rachel into a friendly hug. "Thank you," he said, tipping his cheek against her hair.

"Aww," she said with a smile, returning his hug, "you don't have to thank me, it's what friends are for. And I know how it was trying to make friends and get people to see you for who you really are. So I'm your support for all of that."

Hunter stepped back, but left his hands on her arms, staying connected to her. "I don't know what I did to deserve to meet someone like you, but it's just what I needed. I know I keep saying thank you, but I just feel so... grateful."

Hunter squeezed Rachel's arms as he laughed before he dropped them away. "I'm so glad I came to this party," he said, tone sincere. "I wasn't sure if I should at first, but then you asked me again and I couldn't say no. And I'm so glad I didn't. I'm having the best time."

"I'm glad you came too, if you hadn't I might have had to hurt you next time I saw you," she teased, nudging him lightly with her shoulder. "And i'm deceptively strong you know."

"As you should be," she nodded, making herself look serious, well as much as she could anyway, because she was fighting a laugh. "And you're kinda scrawnly looking so I don't think you'd be much to take on anyway," she teased.

"Oh, you could definitely take me," Hunter replied, putting his hands up in mock surrender. "Let's not test that theory right now, alright? I'd hate to disrupt your party with a brawl." He smirked as he finished, obviously joking with her.

"Yeah that wouldn't be very good," she agreed, "plus there are too many of your warblers here tonight, so it could get me into some trouble," she joked, grinning at him. "They might end up breaking my famous nose!"
