Who: Julie, Edward, and Finnick Where: Starts out in the forest, then Edwards room then back to her own room. When: Mid afternoon What: Attempting a talk with Finnick after a long talk with Edward. Rating: TBD Open to: Finnick
Julie wasn't going to do anything drastic, no matter how much she wanted to. Instead the young woman decided to go and hit things in the forests nearby. Julie didn't know what that would solve, other than keeping her from doing something stupid.
As she walked she felt like someone was following her, but every time she turned to look no one was there. This of course made her worry that she was losing her mind, but she kept reminding herself that she couldn't lose something that she never had.
Finally Julie shook the feeling that she was being followed, or perhaps she just better ignored it, either way she was now focused on working off some of the frustration that Finnick had brought out in her. Finding a clearing Julie walked over to the first tree at its edge and started punching, kicking and cursing it for its existance. Obviously Julie was not angry with the tree itself, she was simply angry for everything that happened to her over the course of her life and the tree was the thing that got to feel that anger.
After what seemed like an eternity of fighting a tree that didn't fight back Julie felt drained, as well she had more than a few cuts and scrapes she would have to explain to her new roommate. Melting to the ground the young woman surveyed the damage to her knuckles, uncertain of what else she had hurt. Deciding to head back to the room, Julie prayed that Finnick would be asleep when she returned.
As the young woman headed back to the hotel she saw something. Julie saw the man she thought she had unwillingly left to die at her fathers hand. Standing just feet from her was her watcher, her mentor, the man she saw as more of a father than her own. "Edward..." She said softly frozen in place, the cuts and scrapes on her hands no longer bothering her.
Edward heard the voice and immediately turned his own shock apparent across his features. "Julie?" He said equally as quiet. His inital questions of course were silenced the moment he saw her hands. "What happened?" he asked rushing to her side, taking her small hands in his to examine the damage.
"Its nothing" The young woman replied as she studied him. "I just had a run in with a tree." She finally admitted as she could tell that he wasn't going to accept the 'its nothing' response.
"And what did this tree do to deserve your wrath? Was it a demon tree?" Edward asked. He was only half serious, if even that, as he asked the young woman the question. The small smile that had formed after his absurd question didn't last as he studied Julie further. "Julie, what aren't you telling me?"
Julie sighed in return. "It really is nothing Edward." She said looking away. "Just memories I didn't need coming back." She added.
He sighed with her, always worried what she would do when she really had time to think about her past. "Let's get you cleaned up, where is your room?" He asked figuring she would feel safest there.
"NO!" She said a bit too rushed. "I mean, not my room. Can we go..maybe to yours?" she asked. "I just have a strange roommate situation..." She didn't really know how to explain she had a male roommate thrust upon her and one that she had already almost unloaded every secret of hers on.
"You are going to explain to me why you don't want me to meet said roommate yes?" he asked as he guided the woman towards the elevator. Edward didn't know what to expect from that explaination, other than if it was anything like his situation he understood her fear.
Julie knew on some level her watcher would understand what was happening, he'd seen some weird things before and he had to see what this island was if he'd been here for longer than a day. "How long have you been here?" she asked trying to change the subject.
He knew what she was up to, but didn't stop her, for the moment. "I have been here about a month...Last thing I remember was your father shooting me and then waking up here, with no wound." He said simply. "How long have you been here."
As they walked she processed what he said."I had just gotten you to the hospital, they were asking me all sorts of questions which I didn't have answers for." She said. "I mean I certainly couldn't tell the the truth now could I?" She added as they made it to his room.
"No I suppose not." He said sympathetically. "Why don't you let me clean up your hands and you can tell me why you don't want me to meet your roommate." Edward finally said as he led her to his room and had her sit down while he gathered what was needed to clean and bandage her hands.
Julie sighed as she sat down. Knowing Edward the way she did, she knew he wouldn't let it go for long, she had just hoped for longer than 5 minutes. "You can meet my roommate all you want, just not yet because I don't want to hear I told you so from him." She said simply hoping that would settle his questions.
"You know you're going to have to explain more than that to me don't you?" he asked as he sat down beside the young woman, taking her hand back in his and gently cleaning out the wounds. "And did you say him?"
"Yes I know, and yes I said him." She said with a sigh. "And he's frustrating and makes me want to hit him." She said with a grumble as she started to ball her fists again.
"Julie Michelle St James.." he said firmly. "You need to calm down and explain the situation to me. What have you told him?" Edward asked wondering if she had shared her past with the man.
"He knows everything okay." She said in a raised tone. "I told him everything about what happened." She added as she tried to pull her hand from his to no avail.
"Everything?" he asked for her to clarify. "Even about who you are?" he asked hoping she had atleast left that part out, still not releasing her hand.
"Not that, I did leave that part out, but I have a feeling he will find out soon enough." She admitted, calming down a bit. "Just what my father did and what I was to him." She added.
"Alright." he said as he carefully wrapped one hand in a bandage. "Well do try not to share the rest, for now." Edward said concerned for Julie's safety should anyone find out. "What do you know about this person?" he asked wanting more details.
"Not much, just what he told me." She said as she told him everything that Finnick told her, and what he said about the room and Sarah Ann.
"Well he could be correct." Edward explained. He didn't know much about this island, but he was learning it never did anything without a reason and if the room was that different, the child could soon show up.
"Not you too" Julie said with immense frustration. "What else are you two going to agree on next?" she asked with a sigh.
"Julie you know that it isn't like that at all." He replied back with a sigh, finishing bandaging her other hand. "I just think you sometimes seem to be a bit...stubborn when something isn't your way.." Hs said this followed by a soft muttering of. "Which is surprising."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Julie asked hearing the last thing he said.
"Nothing Julie, you just need to be a little more open minded is all." He explained as he brushed some hair out of her face, a soft smile forming across his features. "Which means you probably should go talk to the roommate..." Edward wasn't ready to accept that it was someone of the opposite sex because that would mean admitting Julie was growing up. Edward knew he wasn't her father, at least not by birth, but he couldn't shake the feeling of her being the closest thing he had to a daughter.
"And what happens if I can't deal with the situation?" she asked nervously.
"then you come back here and I fix up the couch for you, but for now you have to try." He said this with a sad smile.
"Fine, you win." Said as she stood and hugged the man. "I'm glad you're here and safe." She added clinging to him.
"I do as well" He said with a small laugh as he kissed the top of her head. "You'll be fine Julie, I promise...and you know where to find me if you need me." It pained him to do this, but she needed the push.
"okay okay, I'm going." She said before releasing the hug and heading for the door. As much as she didn't want to, she decided that she needed to talk to Finnick again. The only thing Julie hoped for was that it was a much calmer discussion this time.
