[Log] Reading: It's Crazy
WHO: Calvin and Allison
WHAT: Calvin ghosts out during a random bookstore encounter!
WHEN: Thursday, June 16, late morning
WHERE: Finley's Books on Main
RATING: :D?
Sure, maybe there were more important things that Allison could have been doing. Finding a month-to-month apartment, furniture shopping, dropping in on her fam... there was lots for her to do now that she was back in Boston for an indeterminate amount of time, but where was she instead? At the end of the Biographies aisle of a brightly-lit bookstore. With her nose in a coffee-table book about Caterina Hensley. In the basket at her feet, a few magazine issues about the deceased singer were neatly stacked, and she had another book tucked under one arm, but it was slim pickin's to say the least.
The part of the row she was standing in was entirely dedicated and themed toward the late Cat, but demand in the wake of her death meant that most of the copies were sold out. Maybe it seemed silly for a professional reporter (such as herself, thank you) to be reading these things, but she was looking for something to stand out. To jump out at her. If not now, then later.
It was a little hard to read an oversized picture book while standing, and so the blonde fumbled with it a little to turn the page as carefully as she could. Trying to balance it just so while also holding onto that other book proved a little more difficult than she anticipated, so the book under her arm slipped and tumbled to the ground with a thud. Then the coffee-table book followed, but it landed perfectly in her basket ("Oh!"), and her eyebrows shot up in surprise as she looked down at them. Then up and around, as if she were in a library and just commited a noise crime. Whoops.
But, er, wait -- where did the other book go? She heard it fall, but it wasn't... anywhere... that she saw. In pure Allison fashion, she somehow managed to drop it just so, which sent it just barely under the shelf in front of her in a space just big enough for it.
"Wh... Wha."
