Maes smiled brightly over at her, and then lifted a shoulder. "It wasn't that hard to do, and I figured we should at least get a chance to talk." He really hadn't meant to avoid her, or anyone around Test City really. Maes was just lost in his own research and trying to figure out exactly where they were, why they were there, and each clue that every person posted to the network was just another note jotted down in his book.
It was habit, really. Maes was great with little details, and he wanted to make sure that if there was a way out of Test City that they would have a fighting chance to make it.
"You're welcome." He replied with a nod, finally taking a seat himself across from her. "By all means, you can go first." He wasn't picky about who went first even though Gracia had always insisted that he have the first servings. He supposed that was because he was the man of the house, but he took only what he thought he could eat and then went for seconds after everyone was finished.
Neither one of his girls would ever go hungry if he could help it.
Pulling his glasses off, Maes pulled a cleaning cloth from his pants pocket and started rubbing them down. "I haven't been meaning to be absent. Work, well, it consumes me sometimes. My wife would never admit it, but I think it bothered her that I was away from home so much. I know Elicia, my daughter was not happy and she was quite vocal about it." He chuckled softly as he thought of Elicia and then slipped his glasses back on his face.
"Do you mind telling me a little about yourself and the world you come from?" He asked, finally dishing himself up some of the food he'd made.
