“Uh hey.” Claire greeted him. She hadn’t really seen much of her mysterious roommate since this had all started. She still thought she might wake up in her own bed, safe and sound at any moment. But she didn’t. And Claire had to face reality. In all likelihood, she was going to be stuck here for a long time. She could deal. She was a strong girl, stronger than most would have given her credit for. She would adapt, even if she missed her family terribly.
She was not the only one this was happening to. She had to keep that in mind, because that would help her get through this. It wasn’t so bad, she liked her job. It was kind of fun working at the comic bookstore, and funny because she had a power much like some of the characters in the book.
She smiled at Maes. He had gone out of his way to make this meal for them, the least she could do was join him. “Oh wow.” Claire said. “You didn’t have to go and do all this…” But it was nice that he had. Admittedly, she’d been eating a bit poorly since this had all started. Maes seemed like an alright guy from what Claire had seen of him.
“Thank you.” She said genuinely, taking a seat. “It smells amazing.” And it reminded her of home, back when things had been so simple...before all the crazy stuff had started.
