Isis woke with a start. Immediately bolting up in her bed, the arm obvious on her face. Not that there was anyone around to see it. She was alone in her bed, save her cat who seem rather unconcerned by the rising Queen's alarm. The scene from her nightmare was still playing in her head. Her mother was presiding over a public execution and it had been Osiris facing the executor. Unknown to most sphinxes the clairvoyance abilities were greatly diminished in the royal family. Isis had only experienced visions only a couple time in her life. She knew there was nothing he had done would warrant such a punishment but she knew how her mother hated his political activities. It would not take much for her mother to order it. Even as she tried to calm herself she couldn't shake the terrible feeling.
In an impulsive decision, Isis tossed her blanket to the side as she slid out of bed. The movement finally waking up her cat, who cried at her in concern. Isis ignored him as she slipped her feet in to a pair of slip on and slipped out her door. Isis was rarely, if ever, alone outside her room. Keket was always nearby. But now her guardian was still asleep and Isis wasn’t stopping to wake her. She NEEDED to check on Osiris. Cognitively she knew he was currently in no danger but she needed to see him. It was unusual for Isis to act completely on feeling. She typically tended to over think. All she knew was that she wouldn’t be able to rest again until she saw him.
As she left the dorm, the cool air moved over her exposed skin. It wasn’t very cold but it was clear that she should have put on her dressing gown over her silk nightgown. She paid the chill no mind as moved across the campus toward the professor apartments. She shouldn't know which of the apartments was his but she did. She didn't hesitate to knock with urgency when she reached his door. When he finally opened the door the relief that flooded her face was visible. Now she did hesitate as she searched for words and her next action.
"I had a nightmare." she told him as if that would be explanation enough.
