THREAD: Reed & Darcy
WHO: Reed & Darcy (Probably some Sugar & maybe Arthur)
WHEN: Sunday Jan. 15th, afternoon
WHERE: Darcy's dorm room
WHAT: Reed comes to call.
RATING: Who knows? I don't pretend to.
Since his confession to Darcy and subsequent break up with Adelaide, Reed's world hadn't exactly been the most cut and dry. Arthur had merely been like "About bloody time." which Reed did not think was very helpful, especially since he was still trying to do the right thing, which was to give Darcy space to grieve the boy she had been dating and he didn't doubt she had real feelings for. And it would just look awful for him to be seen with her in a romantic light right after he had ended things with Adelaide. He'd told his ex that she really needed to stop running from the one who loved her most, that if he were to die she would regret not having the time with him she, they deserved. But she was an adult and her business was no longer his, although he told her he still held her in the highest regard and should she need anything his door was always open.
He'd sent flowers to Darcy every week, since the attacks, of various kinds, always with a hand written note telling her he was thinking about her. And he'd drop her texts every now and again, but he wasn't pushing. And truth be told he wasn't entire sure if he was doing this right. Darcy was his best friend. What if he screwed this up? What if she didn't want to be a Queen Consort? What if he was making her a target? So many what-ifs that Arthur told him was him over thinking this and that Darce was perfectly capable of making her own choices without him talking them both out it.
And so he found himself on a Sunday afternoon walking over to her dorm, Nadine in tow as his official guardian. "You really don't need to come with me to Darcey's," he assured her as they walked to the dorms. The other mermaid shrugged at him. "I'll go inside, make sure its safe and then you can confess your love again," she teased him as they approached the door. Reed sighed and knocked on the door, the bouquet of wild flowers at his side as he waited for her to open the door. The siren was surprised by Sugar Cook when she opened the door with a wide grin he didn't entirely trust.
"Darce!" She called with that wicked grin. "Your gentleman caller has come with flowers." She laughed and let him and Nadine in. Nadine ignored them all as she walked around the dorm common room then satisfied dropped gracefully onto an arm chair where she picked up a magazine and started flipping through it. Reed sighed softly. This was not how he imagined courting anyone, never mind Darcy. There were entirely too many people involved now.
Sugar wiggled her fingers at him. "Darce and I just got back from the nail salon and we had brunch. The mimosas were to DIE for." She laughed again and Reed had no idea what to do with the overly enthusiastic woman in front of him.
"Mimosas are good," he ventured as he heard Darcy call out that she would be out in a minute. He was a little surprised that Preston's ex girlfriend was being so friendly with his girlfriend he had been with when he died, but he wasn't going to say anything. Grief did weird things to people.
"You're adorable," Sugar teased him. "Darcy is just changing, we went shopping and bought the prettiest dresses." The brunette spun for him, showing off her own long sleeved dress. "Don't you think?" Reed nodded and smiled at her, suspecting that Sugar enjoyed making him uncomfortable with her enthusiasm. Suddenly she leaned in close and Reed was staring at her with wide eyes.
"Don't worry I'm rooting for you, mate." Another wink and she knocked on Darcy's bedroom door. Once she made sure it was safe she opened the door and sashayed in, jumping on the bed and landing as she fixed her skirt, even though Reed was sure that he'd caught a glimpse of her panties he was trying not to look. But he followed her in, smiling at Darcy as he saw her, holding the flowers out to her.
"I was just walking by and thought I'd stop by and give these to you in person," he said with a smile. And then he laughed. "Well no, I wasn't walking by I dragged Nadine out so I could give these to you and see what you were doing."
