Of course Jareth read the Gossip Bitch blog. He was impressed with that fact that her ability to find out secrets rivaled his own and he gave her many props and for her part she'd pretty much left the High Priest alone. Not that he had many secrets most people would find interesting. Dark eyes read the comments the hurt feelinggs and tears and anger making him chuckle to himself. Kindra was out at the moment so he couldn't share his thoughts on the drama at the moment, but he was sure they'd have a good laugh over it when she came home.
But then a weird feeling was niggling at him and he couldn't quite figure it out. Was Kin okay? Using the bond he had with his mate he followed it metaphysically, find that she was perfectly fine. An eyebrow arched at the weird feeling and he stood up, glancing around his room as if he were searching for something that was setting the hybrid off. There was nothing new. And that was when an image of Lourdes Backer slammed into him, of the blonde girl in a secret passage, her movement hurried and panicked as she laid out some substance and then snorted it, before crawling over to the mattress.
The high priest cursed freely in his native tongue as he threw up his own mental shields to protect himself from her high. Of course he would end up the focus to a drug addicted death elemental. Muttering to himself in German he laced up his black boots and grabbed a leather jacket, which he shrugged on. Opening a drawer he grabbed two of the many crystals he had in an ornate golden box, one a golden swirling hue, the other was crystal clear.
It appears I have to go rescue our death elemental from herself. I'll be home later, sunshine. It was easier for him to communicate to his mate directly rather then through use of electronics. He'd discussed at length with her the implications of Lourde's powers and his involvement with them and they were on the same page. But then again he and Kin always were.
It took him two tries to find the particular hidden corridor she was in. As he entered, he stood for a moment looking down at her. "Seems the rumors must be true if this is your reaction." He wasn't surprised for a moment, the timeline of Lourdes life and a particular professor collided and her world changed. The young man crouched beside her, one hand under her head as he pulled out the gold crystal and held it above her chest. He spoke an incantation, the crystal glowed and then shattered, releasing the spell within, shocking her suddenly awake.
"Hold still," he commanded in his gruff voice. Her high was giving him the starts of a headache and he was less then charitable at the moment. "You're going to feel like hell if you don't let me finish this." She tried to sit up and he shoved her back down roughly.
"I said stay still." The force in his tone left no room for argument as he pulled out the clear crystal, held it above her chest, spinning it counter clockwise as he spoke another incantation. This time the crystal glowed and then slowly turned to swirling black and blue as it sucked the drug from her system.
Jareth sighed and moved to sit on a chair nearby, sticking the crystal into his inner jacket pocket. It was still useful.
"For the record there are better highs then human drugs, with much less physical repercussions."
