PLUS, none of the patients in the hospital were really sick. Orlin used his tricorder and scanned people to find they were perfectly alright, scanned machines to find they were intentionally giving wrong readouts to say they were ill, and medicine to uncover that they were all placebos. When I finally confronted a group of them about it, they all started crying... in unison... weeping actual tears. It was horror movie levels of creepy.
My guess is that the body was a necessary part of the illusion that the city was setting up for you, and once it wasn't needed any more, the city took it back.
