Well, according to a friend of mine who was here briefly and is fairly All Knowing, if you touch it, you become an avatar of The Eye. Which is an eldritch fear monster thing from my world that... sees everything. No idea why it's here, I'm sorry to say. Still working that one out. Still, I know folks that have touched it wound up having really horrendous nightmares for a while there.
