The unexpected trip back in time had brought up a lot of the unresolved feelings that Darcy had so expertly been suppressing for the past month. If Tony was still here, would he have been her alternate universe husband? And if he was, would she have been such a terrible wife? Marriage had never been something she aspired to and now this place gave her two marriages in a short amount of time. Okay, one of them wasn't exactly the fault of the campus or whatever was responsible for them being here, that had been her own drunken stupidity. Still, if they weren't here and they didn't go to Planet Vegas, it wouldn't have happened.
When she woke up yesterday, back in her dorm room, and remembered the previous week, she felt a huge wave of guilt wash over her. Her immediate instinct had been to message the guy... Dan... who had been stuck as her husband. Of course, when she grabbed her phone to do so, she saw that he was gone. That seemed to be how things were going to go for her. She hadn't even known him and this stupid place still made her feel a sense of loss as his departure.
Yesterday, she'd pretty much just hid in her room and tried to avoid everyone. Sharing her feelings was never exactly something she was good at doing and given that she thought her current feelings were ridiculous, she especially didn't want to burden anyone else with them.
This morning, she'd managed to get up, get a shower, and make some coffee, which she poured into a Mickey Mouse travel mug and took with her for a walk. She'd ended up near the monolith, staring up at it, wondering what fresh hell it was going to put them through next. Even with the feeling of being watched, Darcy felt a weird sense of peace, so she sat on the ground, among the rubble of the former dorm, and sipped her coffee, trying to figure out where she should go from here.
