It wasn't often that Tandy bothered to cook, but growing up in New Orleans meant that you picked up a few recipes here and there no matter what: the staples, at least. Jambalaya and cornbread were both two of the ones she was pretty good at, with beignets as a close third, so for the meal she'd offered to cook for Loki the teen had decided to go with all three. After all - why not?
Just before seven, she was finishing it all up - checking the shrimp to make sure they were cooked through before pulling the beignets out and sprinkling a fair amount of powdered sugar on top. The cornbread was already out and sitting under a towel to stay warm, and she picked it up to carry to a table where she already had a couple plates sitting and a pitcher of iced tea. If anyone had told her a month ago she'd be willingly cooking dinner for an Asgardian god of mischief who may or may not be counted among her friends, Tandy would've laughed in their face. But here she was, setting the cornbread down and heading back into the kitchen to check the seasoning on the jambalaya and add an extra dash of pepper, if needed.
When the smell wafted towards her as she lifted the lid, Tandy grinned, then threw the pepper on and gave it one last stir before turning off the heat and grabbing a couple of potholders so she could pick up the pan carefully and move it to one side. Grabbing a small bowl of green onions, she took both back out to the table and set them down too, then went back for serving spoons.
Now the only thing missing was Loki.
