Gabriel hadn't cried much since they were kids, and even then, he'd only ever cried when he had a true reason to. Right now, his mind was convinced that he had every reason to. His family was scattered. The people that were here reminded him painfully of them and made him long for his own home. Having Peter, his Peter, here made the gaping wounds that were his longing for the people that he knew less persistent, but there was still so much that he missed.
His own mother, for one, who would never toss him aside just because he had opinions and ideas about how to do things, who didn't give him up no matter how unplanned her was, who, as far as he was concerned, loved her boys for who they are and what they had become no matter how much she might disagree with their choices.
"You have no idea how good it is to see you," Gabriel said, a slight, sad laugh in his voice as he did. "Don't ever disappear like that again, Pete. Things fell apart without you around."
