The quiet of the beach was broken by a sound very much like a pop and also very much like a tear. It wasn't loud, but it came from about twenty feet to Max's left, so she was definitely going to have no trouble hearing it. Danny seemed to appear from nowhere, about six feet up in the air, and he sort of awkwardly bellyflopped into the sand. Jesus, multiporting always fucks me up... He'd been attempting to do what he'd offered to do in the meeting he'd had with Blaise and Emma, ascertain the distance of the wall by teleporting multiple times, a set distance each time, until he could feel the wall in front of him and thus, determine just how far out it was.
On the upside, he'd figured it out. On the downside, he felt like a kid who ate waaaaay too much and then went on about twenty roller coasters in rapid succession. It usually happened when he made a series of multiple 'ports, although this was the first time it had been this strong. "Ugh." He pushed himself up, flopping up into a seated position...and only then noticed that there was someone else on the beach. "Oh!" He blinked owlishly a second, trying to clear the dizzy haze from his mind. "Uh, hi. I'd make the 'drop in' joke, but it's kind of lame." He didn't get up. Honestly, he wasn't sure if his equilibrium had steadied enough to stay on his feet, so he just stayed sitting. It would be less embarrassing than standing just to topple over again.
