Who: Percy Weasley and [Open] What: Percy is brushing up on offense and defense spells and adding to his repetoire of already-vast spells. When: Right after the conversation with Umbridge Where: Library Rating: Pg-13 for possible language
Percy was surrounded by books in the library. He'd taken as many books as he could that dealt with battle magic and spread them around, organizing them into spells, curses, hexes, and charms. He further sorted them into piles of defensive and offensive magic. Many of the books he'd gotten from the Restricted Section, and many of the books he had around him had been written in by students. If he was going to survive the mission he was going on with Umbridge, he was going to need to know every bit of magic that he could memorize. Quickly, he sorted through all of the books that were useless to him, most of which being books for first through fifth years. The main magic he needed to learn was in the more advanced books, especially the ones that were in the Restricted Section that he'd pulled.
Next to him, he had a scroll that he was writing on, copying down all of the spells that he found useful and how to activate them properly. He was pouring through the books, going through them as quickly as possible without making mistakes. The last thing he needed was to incorrectly write down a spell and have it backfire in his face. Many of the spells that he wrote down he already knew, but he knew more of the theory behind them as opposed to having practical knowledge, which was something that he sorely needed to work on. Theoretical knowledge was useless in the field.
When he finally made it through the stacks of offensive and defensive spells, Percy decided that the next course of action was to go through the hexes. These would be, in his mind, the best for deterring an attacker without actually killing them. If he was able to get through these, he would take a break to let his mind rest a moment. Then he would move on to curses, then charms. He was going in order of importance to survival. For Percy, the hexes were much more difficult to go through than the spells themselves. They'd never really been his strong suit, though he knew enough to get by fairly well. Other than being very plan- and detail-oriented and talented at Transfiguration, Percy was not the best when it came to being offensive. He had to work hard for the results he'd gotten with his O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s.
It wasn't long until he finished with the pile of hex books, as he hadn't grabbed many of those. Moving them aside, he pulled the pile of curse books towards him hesitatingly. These were the books he dreaded the most, as curses were very questionable. He had no inclination to use the Unforgivable curses, but there were others he could learn. These were all taken from the Restricted Section, as curses were not taught to students lightly. While looking through these books and taking notes, Percy was unaware that someone was approaching the table he was at. He was so engrossed in the books that the world outside of them didn't matter at the moment.
