Prompt/challenge you're answering: Tomoyo/Watanuki; the first day of the rest of our lives
Excerpt: Tomoyo reached up and caressed his cheek, her thumb resting below one of his matching blue eyes (Yuuko did, on occasion, give gifts, especially when loyal service was rendered).
They married in the fall, spilling out of the church onto a street lined with friends and family. Yuuko stood in the back wearing a self-satisfied smirk, and Watanuki couldn't muster any anger for her.
Tomoyo was not Himawari, though Himawari was in the crowd, pressed tightly to Doumeki's side. She caught Watanuki's eye and waved. Watanuki waved back before squeezing his bride's hand. She smiled, her eyes bright in a fluff of white lace and frills that she had painstakingly crafted herself.
She handed her bouquet to Sakura and took both of Watanuki's hands. They stared at each other for a moment, the world folding in to just the two of them alone, and Tomoyo reached up and caressed his cheek, her thumb resting below one of his matching blue eyes (Yuuko did, on occasion, give gifts, especially when loyal service was rendered).
They danced down the steps to the limousine and tucked themselves into the car. Tomoyo rested her head on Watanuki's shoulder. A few years ago, no one would have thought that this day would come to pass. Then, Sakura was just a middle-schooler taking magic lessons from Watanuki's employer; Tomoyo just the girl who met her at the gate after class.
But sometimes Yuuko granted wishes that she was not strictly asked to grant, and the two had met, and life had happened.
Now it was beginning again, something brand new, golden rings and promises, and the future had never looked so bright.
