Prompt/challenge you're answering: Julian and Stuart, if spring were to come tomorrow
"What are you going to do when we reach Earth?" May asked Stuart. "You are Julian are taking this trip together, right?" The two brunettes sat together staring out the window as the star-spotted expanse of space flashed by while Julian waited out the trip off on his own, crouched over a battered paperback.
"Something like that. He was invited to speak at a conference, but he says he won't do it. I'm sure it comes as no surprise to you that he hates public speaking."
"It'd be bizarre if he didn't," the young pilot answered. "He can barely take holding a conversation with three people at once."
"Well, that professor of his- an old teacher or mentor or something- asked him to at least come down and talk to him about it in person and I convinced him that was a good idea. So," Stuart smiled hopefully, despite his best regarding how things would turn out, "If the meeting goes poorly, it will be partially my fault and we probably won't end up doing anything together at all."
"I don't think he's going to decide to do the speaking thing."
"Nor do I. But it would be nice to tell his teacher so in person." Stuart folded his hands and looked primly down at them.
"So," May shifted the subject back to her original question, "Assuming the two of you do end up spending your shore leave together, what will you do?"
"Nothing overly exciting. Just some low-key things. You know, enjoying all the opportunities for being outside in nature and visiting other locations that being planet-side provides."
"Sounds good. I'm going to visit my parents. ...But you probably guessed that... The weather back home is nice at this time of year. I guess it's almost spring..."
"Spring," he echoed back, "That's right."
