Who: Lorna and OTA
What: Free for the first time in months, Lorna wanders around NYC
When: Dec 19th, Early afternoon
Where: New York City, NY. Rockefeller Center to be exact.
Rating: PGish? Never know until it's done, so subject to change.

Lorna had spent most of the day out, once she was sure she could find her way back to the apartment she was staying at, anyway. Her first stop in the morning was at a church. The crowd was sizable and it made her uncomfortable, but it had been four months since she had been to a mass of any kind, so she felt she had to go. Close to Christmas, the Church was decorated for the season, the nativity being quite impressive.

She didn't linger though, leaving as soon as the service was done and making a note of the confession times, as that was something her family did monthly. She hadn't really missed it, but it was all about feeling normal for the first time in months. As normal as a green haired girl could. But no one seemed to notice or make a big deal of it.

After that she wandered and stopped for coffee. In line at the Starbucks, she sneezed, the lights flickering and likely wiped a couple of cards in the process. No one seemed to notice though, and after she payed for her drink she made her way out to what was the real goal of the day, the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. She had wanted to see it ever since she was a kid.

For a time she stood there, simply watching the lights on the tree and enjoying her drink. Outside for the first time in months.

Emma was in the city on a mix of business and pleasure. She had a prototype of a new receptor for one of Frost's medical monitoring devices that she wanted to personally deliver to the New York facility for her patent people to go over and start drafting the forms required for the modified application.

That having been done, her agenda had become one of shopping and minor holiday rituals, such as seeing the tree at Rockefeller Center.

The small blue-tooth earpiece she wore had brought her attention to the green haired mutant. Green hair alone drew very little notice these days, especially in New York City. Emma focused on the girl that had triggered the notice from Cerebro. She was the primary user of the technology at the school, and she had made some improvements upon it.

She approached the girl speaking casually to her. "It's lovely, isn't it? There's something about it that just embodies christmas in New York, don't you think?" Emma wore white as she was given to do, punctuated with a long white coat.

Lorna looked over, and around quick, making sure she was actually the one getting spoken to. There wasn't anything suggesting that she was talking to someone else so Lorna looked back at the tree and returned, "I suppose. I've never been here before, but it is really cool," she said.

Besides, when you weren't expecting to have anything resembling a Christmas to begin with, something like this was more than what she could have asked for.

"How are you liking the east coast Lorna? bit of a change from what you are used to I would imagine. certainly the weather is colder, and moodier I should say"

She waited to see how the girl reacted to her familiarity.

Lorna started, "How do you know my name?" She hadn't mentioned it, and the fact that this woman just pulled it out of thin air - especially since it wasn't a common one - worried her.

She had just gotten out of that box, after all, she wasn't going to go back in.

"First of all, you have nothing to fear from me. What was done to you is wrong. My name is Emma Frost, and we have some genetic advances in common, you and I."

Emma smiled, but could feel the fear. There was desperation in the girl as well. close to the surface, which was understandable. Emma's demeanor had not changed.

"Genetic...advances?" Lorna asked, confused, and still unsettled. This woman seemed to know about the last few months, at least based on the hints dropping and knew her name so logically must have been a part of it somehow. The only people she could think of that knew about it were people that worked there, or the friend of her mother's who had gotten her out. Information was generally not pulled out of thin air.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said. Deny everything, maybe then it would go away.

Emma nodded, but didn't move. She wasn't trying to threaten the girl, but she understood her need for caution, and why this would set off alarms.

She spoke directly in to Lorna's mind.

"I'm a mutant Lorna, a mutant and a telepath, among whatever else I am in life. What I am to you though, right now as we stand here, is no sort of threat whatsoever. I work for a school, an organization, whose goal is to help mutants. I am not here to attempt to collect you or anything, I am here to shop, actually, noticing you was just something that happened."

Emma continued to look at the cristmas tree.

Just something that happened... that was the story of her life, she thought dryly, "Really? I'm beyond help," she was speaking out loud, "I... don't think I'm going anywhere. I'm staying with a friend of my mother's."

She could trust the person who went through so much to get her out of where she was, even if finding her was happenstance. At least she hoped she could.

"Our resources are fairly extensive... but as long as you are well, that's what is important. If you find yourself needing help, or... unsure of who to turn to, you can always give a call, let me give you a card.." She spoke the words, and reached into her purse for a card. She was working very hard to stick with the company line. If she was going to work with Xavier's people, she was at least going to try and fit the role.

The girl's reason's were sound. The woman who had freed her had obviously gone to some trouble, and through personal risk to do so. In the same situation, Emma would side the same way. She wasn't selling time shares though, just reaching out.

Lorna took the card even though she didn't didn't have a wallet to put it in. It did go in to her coat pocket though. Whether or not it would make it back to the apartment in one piece would be up to God, she supposed. Not that God, if he was real, had enough time on his hands to safeguard a piece of paper.

"Yeah... I'm, um, fine," Lorna said. As fine as anyone could be after what she had been through, "And as it is, I wouldn't want to bring trouble on your school anyway."

In case anyone came looking for her, "I mean, I don't know what you know about what they were trying to do, but they might not let it drop." She shouldn't even be out right now, actually, but she wasn't going to spend all her time stuck in another room.

"We're in Westchester. If you are woried for your well being, you can just show up. If you think you are in active danger we can get a team to you, I'm sure. If you want to be left alone we can probably do that too." Emma could force most people to do anything she wanted them too, and to be happy while doing it. Even with that being true, she appreciated free will on a level that many might not.

Which, according to the card was also in New York State. For her to be shopping here it had to be pretty close, Lorna reasoned. Though, realistically, she didn't know the first thing about New York state and where things were. She was barely a tourist and only in the sense that not having been here before, she was taking in the sights.

"All things considered," Lorna said, "Wouldn't you be more worried about your well being?"

Emma nodded. That was fair enough. "My insistance upon preserving my own well being is exactly why I am affiliated with the school. Strength in numbers, consolidation of resources, and all of that." It was true, but saying it out loud made her feel like a cheerleader, and that was not at all what she was.

"It's not too far from the city, depending on traffic, it's inside of an hour." Emma responded to questions that weren't asked "If you call and let me know, I can send a car for you if that is better. No-one's trying to make you do anything, or jump into anything before you are ready. I just want you to know what's available to you."

"...Okay," Lorna said, "Thanks?" If she sounded unsure, it was because she was. She had been through a lot in the last few days, and she was still very jumpy, "I'll think about it," she said. Because it was a school, and she shouldn't be out of school, but near perfect academic record or not, she didn't think she'd be going back to her old school any time soon.

Or her old life.

"Very well then. A pleasure meeting you ... Ms. Dane. I bid you well. I have a few more places I want to stop before heading home."

Emma was fully capable of being as pleasant as she wanted to. She had nothing against the girl and didn't want to sour her to the school. She wasn't going to make up anyone's mind for them, but thought perhaps that if she didn't hear from the girl within a few months she would follow up just to make sure she was ok. She knew how she herself had reacted when she was young and Xavier had approached her. She had yet to deal with anyone as infuriating as she must have been to him, and she was glad of that.

"Yes, um, nice to meet you too," Lorna said, following it up with, "Merry Christmas."

Twas the season, after all.
