Who: June OTA
What: Playing with water and pretending she's in Narnia.
When: Wednesday afternoon
Where: Outside
Rating: G
Today was a weird day. When June woke up it was almost kind of warm out. Then, in the middle of English, she looked out the window to see it snowing big fat flakes. Now, not even three hours later, it was warm out again. She wondered if it was the way the weather was working naturally today or if Storm was not having a good day. Either way, the warmish breeze that drifted across the open campus courtyard was too inviting to pass up.
The snow was so deep in the unshoveled parts of the grounds that June stuck to the common paths and matched her steps to the bigger strides of the adults who'd recently walked them. Too soon for green buds. She frowned to herself. It was warm enough for Spring today but the ground was still way too cold for anything to try and grow. Soon, though. When she saw the first robin she'd know the warm weather was getting closer.
Out by the fountain now, she hopped onto the rim and blew a puff of air between her lips. If she closed her eyes or looked in a certain direction she could almost believe she was Lucy, walked into the wardrobe and into Narnia. With one foot in front of the other and gaze down to keep an eye on her steps, June began to circle the fountain. "I am a daughter of Eve," she said quietly to herself. "But I don't think she was expecting me when she had her first baby."
Water from the ground, melted snow that was running in well hidden rivers and streams, came floating into the air and danced before June as she wiggled her fingers. "You see, Mister Tumnus, I am a mutant. I am not just a silly girl with a magical elixir. I can defeat the White Queen all by myself. I will protect you and save Narnia!"
Her hand swept up gracefully and the water followed her motion. When her eyes narrowed in concentration, the water thinned and lengthened into a wicked whip that snapped the air. "Let her come. I am ready for her."
