You don't seriously mean that, do you? I mean, the comment I'm replying to is tongue-in-cheek? Women don't get emails saying "you don't wear enough makeup" or "you're ugly, wear makeup" (though I do get plenty of emails that tell me my penis is too small--I don't think spammers check your sex). It is way, way more subtle than that. It's in all of culture and it doesn't say it directly. TV, movies, advertisements of all kinds--the women in them are made up and airbrushed to perfection. That's what people see and it gets internalized as normal, so actual normal women feel like (even if it's not a conscious feeling) they have to work to keep up, which is of course impossible.
It would take a lot more than a few men's opinions for women to start "thinking for themselves." Make normality the standard for beauty and things will change.
