Okay, I'm back... I think I decided what I like the most about this piece: this is so AU but they are still them. When a fic goes this AU, it's pretty damn hard to do accurate characterizations. Even though Vanessa and Nina are completely outside of AWZ here, the Mystery Author has still captured important parts of their characters. Nina is impatient and they're both stubborn as hell. And I like how Nina contemplates her notions of romance and how this relationship basically goes against all the Hollywood storylines she used to talk about. If that part of her character had been ignored, it would've made this premise a bit unrealistic but it is quite believable the way the Mystery Author has set it up here.
