I haven't figured out what I'm giving up for Lent yet. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with it this year. Though it seems God decided for me since Cam-
You're supposed to give something up that will be difficult for you. I just can't think of anything that I'm that interested in. I can't give up riding, I need the exercise and the horses do, too. I also need the escape. I think my mama's heart would be broken if I gave up cinnamon rolls. She still sends me some every week. I think it's her way of checking in. I wish I could do the same with Hugo and Cameron.
This used to be so easy. But that was then. |

It is a shame women still find themselves in this position. It makes the concept of Valentine's Day seem like it comes from a storybook. How can you celebrate love if there is none? How come my father could not stand up for me the way hers does
Perhaps this is why it is acknowledged as Parent's Day instead. |

How timely
While it is not the focus of the holiday, it's an important thing to discuss. Domestic violence is a serious issue, and one that more people face than you think. Not every abuser leaves marks. Not every abuse victim is female. And no matter what you might be told, you do not deserve to be abused. You're not the one to blame, and you can get help. Your life is worth more than an abuser would want you to believe.
It's not a fun topic to read up on, but it's important. Make yourself aware of the signs and of where you can go for help. You may be able to save a life one day just by being aware. |
