A New Divide RPG: OOC Community

Hey everyone! Several things to announce today.

Firstly, Katy and I would like to apologize for dropping the ball. As all of you know, life can get crazy sometimes and things fall on the back-burner even when we don't want them to. However, we are making plans and revamping the game in the hopes of bringing it back to life, as well as gaining new members. There are a few things we need from you guys to help with the details.

- If you are still interested in playing, please reply to this post! If a player has not responded within one week, he/she will be removed from the game. We will be sending out a mass e-mail as well, just in case there are a few still interested who aren't following the comms.
- If you are still interested, please make sure your information is present on the Player Contact Info page. I think we're missing a few folks.
- Keep an eye on the RPG comm for open threads and plot that will be posted in the week ahead. We are rearranging the calendar and going forward with all the events originally planned.
- The lovely Nicole (Harry and April) will be keeping up with Quidditch for us starting this month.

Remember, if you have any ideas, feel free to submit them via e-mail. We will continue to advertise, but if you know of anyone looking for a game, please invite them!

Hi everyone! We hope you all are well.

Just a bit of FYI here...since we don't have a lot of players, we won't be doing activity checks for a while. That said, we do still want you all to continue posting whenever you're inspired. We'll be keeping the game open and doing some more advertising soon. In the meantime, we'll adjust plot points to be later in the year, so the calendar won't be public for a bit. We'll get back to posting Quidditch scores and whatnot this weekend. Tell all your friends to come join us! We want New Divide to grow!

So, there's this hurricane. Her name is Irene and she's threatening to cause me some problems this weekend. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that she likes the water better than land and starts turning NNE instead of NNW. See the cut as to why, specifically. Anyhow, fair warning: if I disappear this weekend, blame Irene! We live in the middle of nowhere and power goes down at the drop of a hat.

Hello all! I'm super excited to have been accepted.

This lovely lady here is Daphne Greengrass. She's Astoria's big sister, and a member of Pansy's gang while she was in school. Since her daddy's been in Azkaban, she's taken up a job as an apprentice with a seamstress in order to have her own life before she's married off to someone she probably doesn't care for. At the moment I have it as someone named Selwyn, but that might change. Also, Daphne is a bit of a seer. She discovered this in her fourth year, and has slowly been working on getting better. She gets flashes of the near future ( within a few days, usually ), and they can last anywhere between a few seconds to a few minutes. While at school it was mostly teen things like dresses for the Yule Ball or what have you. The only person she's shared that with though is Astoria because it does somewhat scare her. If you'd like to read a little more about her, her bio is here, but she says that's boring.

As for me, my name is Rose, I'm twenty-some-odd-years old and I can be reached on aim at maximusbournio. I'm looking forward to playing with you guys! :D

HELLO THERE. 'Tis Ali with a second. This is Schuyler Morgan Capper, but she prefers you to call her Sky. Sky's 23 and is basically a magical lawyer. She works with International Magical Law and she's pretty much the one they call in when they want something said bluntly. She can be polite, but she doesn't take bullshit very well and she's more likely to drag you across the coals than to be nice and understanding, especially at work.

She's a former Hufflepuff and would have been in Cedric's year. She kind of has an attitude (i.e., she's a bitch), she's extremely liberal, she's opinionated, sarcastic, a bit of a tomboy... but she'll beat down the world for her friends. (Everyone wants to be her friend, right?)

Jamie here, with the lovely Pansy Parkinson. I've played with some of you before, and to those I haven't, HI.

I'm still working up her journal and all that, but in the meantime, her unsexy unformatted character bio is here.

Basically she's the same as you remember: vain, catty, arrogant, self-serving, thinks she's better than everyone else. She's quite a bit poorer, estranged from her family, and her father killed himself to stay out of Azkaban. Currently she works as a secretary with the Ministry in the Department of International Magical Cooperation. She hates her job, hates Harry Potter, and is just the teensiest bit bitter her life is so not as awesome as it should have been.

So! I am headed to the beach as of 1pm-ish tomorrow. I won't be back home until Sunday, but I am taking my laptop with me. We have WiFi at the hotel as far as I know, but I don't intend to spend very much time online...unless someone tempts me with a thread of awesomeness. Abigail here, bringing you two BAMFs. remembrall

First, we have the lovely, the brave, the bold, and the beautiful Neville Longbottom who is currently working at the MoM as an Auror and spending his free time growing plants in his Grandmother's garden. He's a pretty nice guy but he harbours some real prejudices against former Death Eaters (Yes, Malfoys, this includes you) and those who supported the Dark Lord in any way shape or form. He's got soul and he is a soldier, but he's also got pure-blood and is not a purist. Any form of power balance or elitism just pisses him off faster than you can say 'What will really piss Neville off'.

Next, we have Rolf Scamander rolfscamander

Rolf is a purist, and a bit of an elitist, but it means different things to him because of his background, and much like Britain didn't give a whole lot of fucks when Grindelwald was killing millions, the Germans pretty much stayed out of that whole...Death Eater business. That said, however, Rolf comes from a line of Grindelwaldian war profiteers and a family who actually supported him.

A Naturalist, Rolf spent from 92-97 or so travelling around the world and researching a book about werewolves in different places. Unfortunately, an accident in 1997 left him partially crippled.

He completed his book and published it in Germany in 1999, recently the book was also published in England and mistranslated to make Rolf appear like he thinks werewolves ought to be exterminated and not, you know, understood and appreciated.

This adorable chick here is Megan Jones, Hufflepuff Alumni who was in the same year as the Trio, she’s also Hestia’s little sister (and thus, an in-law to Charlie and probably familiar with the other Weasleys?). Meggy is a cute girl, she’s sorta bubbly and incredibly optimistic. She participated in the final battle, and then entered the Healer’s program at St. Mungo’s. She’d be starting on her third year now? Anyway, she’s a gem, and you know you want to be her friend!

I have Charlie Weasley (trialsbyfire) and he's your pretty typical Order Member/Gryffindor/Weasley. He's hot headed, crude and likes to get in fights, but underneath that he's pretty much a teddy bear. He's particularly good with animals and children, He's married to Hestia Jones (hessy) and works a supervisory position over the many Dragon reserves (making sure their up to code, by visiting every few months for inspections and the like), from a safe little desk in the Department for the Regulation and Control of magical animals.

Hi there! My name's Ali, and I'm bringing you Luna Lovegood. You all know Luna. She's the crazy one.

She never returned to school after the war; her father was sick after his stay in Azkaban, and she was concentrating on getting him better and supporting them. He's doing much better now and she settled down to looking for a career a few months ago, instead of odd jobs, while her father's trying to pick up writing again. She's recently landed an apprenticeship as a zoologist and she's about to start that, so she's very excited.

I'm Jair, or Quack. Whichever you prefer. Either way, I bring you Theodore, the mayor of Crazy Town. Fresh from Azkaban, he's apprenticed to a Potions Master in Nocturne Alley.

When he was a kid, Theodore's father killed his mother, and he got to watch. What was really fun was that the whole episode triggered something of a psychotic break in Theodore, and with a convenient family madness curse looming over the Notts, causes him to lapse into conversation with a voice in his head. It's fun, you should try it.

(Note to self: add happier character.)

Fast forward to Theodore obsessing over Draco, joining the Death Eaters, torturing his fellow students and heading to Azkaban. He got out on the condition that he takes suppression medication and potions, and that makes him oh-so-happy. He drinks a lot, verbally abuses his house elves, is never to be found without knives or tarot cards, and yeah. So come say hi, and I'll get working on that Terry Boot application...

Hello everyone and welcome to New Divide! I'm Diana, one of your friendly neighborhood moderators. Along with my partner in crime (Katy), I hope to bring you one of the best games available on InsaneJournal. I also hope you guys all have a lot of fun! We built this community for the writers and the thinkers, and we want to see it grow, so tell everyone to come and join us. But enough of official business for now! I'd like to give you a brief introduction to all my kids - and yes, there are a LOT. I already have connections with some of you, but I fully intend to make more over the course of this game. Barrett Mulciber (coldresolution) is a 29 year-old former Slytherin. He's the only living member of his direct ancestral line and he takes his societal status quite seriously. In public, he's charming, ambitious, and enigmatic. The real Barrett is cold, calculating, and fond of blood. He is the self-appointed leader of the reformed Knights of Walpurgis and he plans on maneuvering them into governmental power. He's married to Iris Mulciber (nee Prewett) and has one son, Lucas, age 7. His wife is his partner and his equal, though he is most definitely the head of his family. He tends to twist situations to achieve his own goals. When he sets out to do something, he does it. There are no loose ends and no mistakes. Those, along with love and hate, are weaknesses in his mind. He is not a man to cross.

Eli Wade (brokencompass) is a student of a life. He's 18, turning 19 in September, and attends Oxford University. First and foremost, you should understand that Eli is a muggle. He doesn't yet know about the magical world, but when he learns of it, he will be supportive and interested. Eli is easygoing, kind, and genuine. He's smart, but he doesn't know what he wants to do with his life, meaning he's a bit of a drifter. He works part-time at a bookshop near the school to support himself, though he's on scholarship. His parents are wealthy professionals back in Texas, but he doesn't want anything to do with that life anymore.

Seamus Finnigan (drink_up) is that Irishman we all know and love. He's pretty much the same as ever, only now he has a license to make alcohol and doesn't cause too many explosions anymore. After Hogwarts, he moved to Ireland to live with his muggle father for a bit, where he rebuilt a motorcycle and learned to bar-tend. When he came back, he took over the management of the Three Broomsticks from Rosmerta, though she still owns the place. His pay there is allowing him to purchase a property on which he plans to build his own brewery. Seamus is 20, still best friends with Dean Thomas, and still just as proud to hail from Eire as ever. He's bold, friendly, and a little bit of a daydreamer. He rarely meets people he doesn't count as mates.

Jamie Chambers (silverlining_) is a former Ravenclaw. He's just turned 19 and he's led a complicated life. He's a pureblood, but it means very little to him. His mother and father were engaged when his father became a Death Eater. Jamie's mother wanted nothing to do with that kind of evil, so she fled England, leaving behind her family in the process. It was only after she got to America that she realized she was pregnant. With the long-distance support of her family, she managed to build a new life and raise Jamie. Unfortunately, she was killed in the car accident that left Jamie with a permanent limp and a lack of balance. He was sent to live with his father, stepmother and half-brother (J. Dorny), all of whom are purists and the complete opposite of Jamie. Despite all the darkness in his life, Jamie is the type of person who can find the good in any situation. He's bright, caring, and a veritable well of information. He is the curator's assistant at the wizarding museum in Diagon Alley and has been since he was told he was too clumsy to be a curse breaker.

Tamsin Applebee (arrow_chaser) is very much a former Hufflepuff. At 23, she's a starting chaser for the Appleby Arrows and is very proud to be part of the team that her ancestors helped to found. She's the girl next door - pretty, but unassuming. She's down to earth despite spending most of her time on a broom or in the sky as a hawk (her Animagus form). Tamsin enjoys meeting people and being in crowds. She's not particularly loud or extroverted, but she firmly supports rule-breaking when it's in the name of having fun.

Patricia Stimpson (_patrician) is 22 and a former Slytherin who might have been in any other house if not for her tendency to look out for herself ahead of everyone else. Over the years, she figured out that being a purist and part of a family that supported Voldemort wasn't going to make her any real friends. So, she wrote them off at an early age and became something of a pariah among her housemates, preferring to spend her time instead with students from other houses (she would've been friendly towards the Weasley twins, Lee Jordan, et cetera). Currently she's working as a wizarding photographer in London. She has her own studio, but she does freelance shoots for the Daily Prophet as well. She's ambitious, confident, and capable of looking after herself. At times she can come across as impatient or cold, but it's not intentional. Patricia gravitates towards people like herself who are independent and strong.
