"Tostadas. You know, toasted tortillas with toppings?" L.L. was a little surprised he didn't seem to know what she was talking about. He seemed so worldly; he had to have at least heard of a tostada before. "It's like a hard shell taco but usually flat. Sometimes shaped in a bowl, though I always have them flat. It's how my abuela prepared them."
She looked over the various vegetables, placing tomatoes, peppers, and other assorted items into her basket. She was feeling inspired now. Many didn't know it, but L.L. liked to cook. It just didn't happen very often because she was always out and about. Her preferred cuisine was Mexican because of her mother and grandmother, but she did know other dishes.
"We should get some more meat and freeze it," she said aloud, mostly to herself. L.L. was only now thinking about stocking up for the long term. She wasn't used to not being able to go to the store whenever. "Anything special you want? And please don't say Spam or I'll smack you across this store." The last bit was said with a teasing grin.
