Billy Kaplan and Open
Who: Billy Kaplan and Open
Where: Manhattan Skyline
When: January 28, 2014 - Evening
What: While "patrolling", Billy attempts to work through the random flaring up of his abilities.
Bright teal energy cut across the skyline of Manhattan Island as Wiccan made a winding trail through the city. He had decided that he needed to take time away from the monotony of schoolwork and endless studying, and saw the act of patrolling as a welcome break. Even more welcome, though he would never admit it out loud, was that he was by himself, which afforded him the opportunity to not have to account for another one of the Titan's mobility issues. There were few of them who could fly with any decent speed, which meant that when he patrolled with others, he had to tone it down a bit. Since he was by himself though, he was free to move at full speed, which, even for him, seemed a bit faster than normal.
The city below seemed quiet, most of its citizens driven indoors by the biting cold. Even his insulated costume afforded little protection from the winds that shrieked around him. Still, there were those that would weather the cold, their aims less than noble. Billy thought of Teddy as he weaved around skyscrapers, his thoughts bouncing between wishing the big lug were there with him and glad that he was less of a fan of the cold than most. As much as he loved Teddy, though he never said it, he knew things were different for the blond. There were memories that Billy had, times that they had been together, that Teddy didn't share because of his magic. There were times when he still contemplated how he could have accomplished such a powerful feat.
To this day, he had not been able to duplicate that level of power consistently. He had, intermittently, suffered from flare ups that he could not explain, flecks of golden light mingling with bright teals that tore his desires from him and amplified them ten fold. Once, he had tried to teleport back to the dorm room that he and Teddy shared and ended up either in Egypt or Vegas. He hadn't been sure, except for the pyramids. Another time recently, during a practice session, he had vaporized a large chunk of the Titan's combat training equipment with but a thought. Restoring it had taken more concentration, but he had managed.
The only thing he had going for him at the moment was that nobody else had witnessed any of these bouts, and nobody had been hurt. The last thing he wanted was the other Titans to be worried about him becoming a liability.
And so he flew, alone, his mind drifting between thoughts of mundane life and concentrating on staying aloft. He also found himself admiring the architecture as he passed the more notable landmarks of the city. In fact, he had almost forgotten that he was patrolling in the first place.
