Who: Nick Fury, Daisy Johnson
What: Nick hopes Daisy's enjoyed her vacation because it's time to get back to work. He steals her from the Helicarrier in style.
Where: SHIELD helicarrier, over NYC
When: Wednesday, January 22, 2000 hrs
Rating: R for language
Note: Fury breaking into the helicarrier is done with Mel's knowledge and permission.
In some ways, Nick was impressed at the lengths he had to go to just to sneak onto the helicarrier. Hill could be accused of many things, but resting on her laurels wasn't one of them- and her security was top notch. The agents on duty were alert and attentive and if it wasn't for the fact that he was simply better, they may even have pegged him for an intruder. But the fact of the matter was he wasn't just better, he was the best with maybe two exceptions he could think of- and these kids, bright as buttons and sharp as tacks, didn't have the experience to beat a man who'd been in this business since before their parents, and maybe even their grandparents were born.
Getting onto the helicarrier was the hardest part, but it was accomplished with the use of a hotel key he'd had the R&D boys rig with a fancy computer program. The program itself, as it had been explained to him, acted like a skeleton key. Of course, Hill would have had all the programming changed since he'd last been on the ship, but she couldn't exactly plan against what she didn't know existed and though this would be the only use he'd get out of this gadget before she patched the holes in their security, he only needed it this time.
From there it was just a matter of staying out of sight until he chose to be seen. Nick knew where all the security cameras were on the helicarrier, where they pointed, what they picked up, what alcoves they could and couldn't see-- there was something to be said about the privilege of being able to work on the blueprints of your own vessel, and it would be foolish to think that Nick hadn't smuggled in a few perks just for his own personal use.
He waited until the ship had taken to the air and hit altitude, far too high up for drastic measures from the Acting Director, not without serious repercussions- and out of the range of the FBI, CIA and their ilk.
Still, Nick was in no rush, he had plenty of time.
Helping himself to an apple from the mess, Fury bided his time peeling chucks off with a small knife in a little room hidden behind a false wall in a rarely used storage closet a few feet from the galley.
The silence outside more than anything else tipped him off to the time: lights out. And that was just the moment he'd been waiting for.
The former Director made his way down the halls in an intricate zig-zag pattern, only moving down one hall until he was just approaching a camera before taking a left, or right and simply going around, like following a trail through a labyrinth, until he reached the women's dorm hall, and rapped his knuckles against one specific door before letting himself in with his skeleton key. Yep, Hill was going to close that hole up right away.
"Hey kid." He said to Daisy, "Let's go."
