They came at him as one, but he flowed through them like water. Ducking, dodging, side-stepping, cartwheeling and flipping his way among the men, Danny managed to bend like a reed when necessary to avoid a billy club or grasping hand while lashing out with blows that fell like claps of thunder. Men fell and continued to fall around him, but Danny was not unscathed. His skin was bruised, and his shirt was torn so that the mystical marking of Shou-Lao that he usually kept hidden was displayed prominently on his chest.
When there was a brief pause in the action, Danny shrugged out of what remained of his shirt to a chorus of, "Iron Fist...", "..That explains it..", and "...must be a goddamn mutant too!"
As the words and accusations continued to fly, Danny took stock of his situation. Sooner rather than later, there would be more men gathered than he could hope to stop without beginning to seriously injure them. And given the general thrashing he had given these troopers so far it was not likely that they were going to back down.
When Danny heard police sirens seconds before blue and red lights lit up the area outside the school, he could scarcely be more pleased. Luthor's goons were one thing, but he had faith that the NYPD would at the very least hear him out before storming the school and that was all he needed.
"I'm just trying to keep these psychopaths out of my school", Danny yelled to the first officer who rolled up on the scene. "I've got children inside to think of!"
