The last thing she wanted to do was listen. Surely, between the two of them, they could make pretty quick work of these government goons and devise a defensive plan for when they came back.
But that was precisely the problem. They would come back-- they would come back with arms and armor to a school where there were only two people over the age of twenty-one, and would keep coming back as long as she was hidden here. She wouldn't put kids in danger just because she hated the idea of running... especially not these kids, who had already been through so much.
As Danny went to the door, she very slowly and calmly turned her back on the soldiers, pulling her hair down out of its ponytail, so that it would lend some cover to her face. Walking towards the older kids who would have been their audience, Dinah whistled and nodded, ushering them out of the main room with a casualness that was only maintained by sheer force of will, despite the strange tension that had swallowed up the school.
In another room and well out of earshot of the soldiers, Dinah stopped to address the kids who's concern was turning to fidgety nervousness and fear.
"What's going on? Who are those people? What do they want with Sifu?" Derek asked, looking back towards the main room to try to see what was happening.
"They're part of a government task force assigned to arrest mutants and meta-humans." Dinah answered honestly, waving to the kids and bringing them into Danny's office, "They're going to chase me- so here's what I need you to do." She said in a direct tone, as if telling them they needed to take out the garbage. They were too anxious to argue, and more than willing to help- so for the moment, the teenagers were prepared to shut up and listen.
"Derek, Francesca, Jay, Tara. You three need to go wake up the little kids-- quietly. Make sure everyone has pants, shoes, shirt and a jacket. Bring them down here and avoid the main room. I want you doing head counts every thirty seconds, okay? They're going to need you to look after them and Sifu and I are counting on you." She directed, giving her most encouraging smile. She had seen how little these task forces valued life when they'd opened fire in her apartment building... if they did the same here... But the older kids could keep the younger ones safe... They could do it, she was sure. "Matt, Amy- I'm going to show you a back way out of the school. Once the little kids are up and ready to go, you are going to lead everyone out the back. There will be someone waiting there for you to take you all some place safe until Sifu can catch up with you. " This second set of directions was given while Dinah shuffled through Danny's desk, looking for his cell phone. Surely he had Luke Cage on speed dial...
Out front, the soldiers were not going to be deterred from their mission, but for the sake of legality (and common courtesy to some extent) the commander was willing to parlay with the school's owner. "We've got intel that a fugitive mutant is hiding out here, sir. If you'll step aside and let us search the premises, we'll be out of your hair in fifteen minutes tops."
