The sight of her all dressed up made him smile. "Smart? That's a first," he said, playing along with the insult. "And you look beautiful." He leaned in and pressed a friendly kiss to her cheek before he drew back and found a place to set his things. "I can take care of the coat, just point me in the right direction."
The buttons took a little work to get free, giving away that the coat was new. He had done his best to dress up festively, wearing a pair of dark slacks and a navy button-up. "I'm not late, am I?"
