Jennifer knew she looked - not great. Her hair was kind of a mess, her makeup application was less then seller, and she was wearing a combination of her regular clothes, and a few pieces of her Halloween costume. Yes, she had been at a Halloween party that had taken place the night before Halloween. It was just one of those things, and she wasn't the type of girl that said no to a party. And it had been a good party, a party that had gone on to the wee hours despite it being a school night, and a work night. Now she was in recovery mode, and here at some random diner to get some food into her, and more importantly get some coffee into her, so she could get herself back to Gotham.
Staring at the slice of toast on her pate, Jennifer reached over and poked at it with a finger, before giving a sigh and reaching up her hand to rub at her head. No school today. Nope. She was going to go home and do some serious recovery.
There were kids in the booth behind her, and honestly Jennifer wasn't listening to their conversation. She didn't care, it was just that certain words always caught her attention, among them seance, and summoning and succubus. Really. She tried to ignore the conversation going on behind her, because it was the season for all those words to get thrown around after all. But despite herself she found herself listening in, and then she found herself digging in her purse for a pen and making some notes on her napkin as the kids in the booth behind her talked on and on and on ...
Her toast got cold, and so did her coffee. By the time the kids were done talking her headache had gone up a level, but she had the vague outlines of a plan, on how she was going to stop what these kids were planing. Seriously - trying to magic up a date? Lame. If you asked her it would have been so much easier for them just hire an escort.

The kids she had overheard in the dinner had been kind enough (or maybe it was stupid enough) to lay out their plan fro the night, right down to including the place they planned to do their summoning. Now Jennifer did have some sympathy for them, she had done stupid shit when she was a kid and had access to magic books. Hell she had even summoned a demon, but thankful she had been bailed out. So she was here to bail these kids out, and maybe scare them off magic. And confiscate their magic book. She'd start a collection of magic books maybe . . .
Well scaring them off magic had been the plan, and stopping them before the summoning went down had been the plan. Halloween traffic had sort of gotten in the way. So she was a bit late. Downside: She hadn't stopped the summoning, upside: she was pretty sure that the kids had been scared off magic by what they summoned. It wasn't a succubus so it wasn't pretty (although if she ran into Santana again? Yeah Jennifer was going to say it was, and ask Santana if that's what she looked like before the make up went on) but it was huge, a big brute of a thing, with teeth and claws, and a tail that had spikes on it. Really. Last thing on earth you'd want to have sleep with. (Well last thing on Earth Jennifer would want to sleep with, different strokes for different folks and all that.)
She had gotten to the destination the summoning had been taking place on the last house on a dead end street (of course it was ....), that apparently had a reputation for being haunted. Well Jennifer didn't know about that, but she figured the place was going to need some work done on it after tonight. The thing the kids had summoned had trashed a wall and had the kids cornered in one part of the kitchen by the time Jennifer got there.
"Hey, big and ugly, and probably smelly breath? Can I have your attention?" She wasn't sure if twas her voice, or the magical bolt of energy that she sent hurling at the beast that got it's attention but it swung it's head around, and she got a look at it's ugly mug. The skin that was stretched over it's frame was grey-ish in color and seemed to be shifting and stretching. Wonderful, it looked like it was going to shed it's skin and who knew what would be underneath.
It charged at her, and Jennifer and it played chicken for a second before she dodged to the left. The thing went barreling through a wall, and then out of the building. Yeah. This was not going to plan.
"This is why you don't play with dark forces!" Jennifer yelled at the cowering kids. "Now just - argh, just say out of my way." She was glad she had worn low heeled boots today because now she had to chase that thing. although it was kind of big, and scary. Honestly she figured all she had to do was follow the screams.
