Jennifer knew she looked - not great. Her hair was kind of a mess, her makeup application was less then seller, and she was wearing a combination of her regular clothes, and a few pieces of her Halloween costume. Yes, she had been at a Halloween party that had taken place the night before Halloween. It was just one of those things, and she wasn't the type of girl that said no to a party. And it had been a good party, a party that had gone on to the wee hours despite it being a school night, and a work night. Now she was in recovery mode, and here at some random diner to get some food into her, and more importantly get some coffee into her, so she could get herself back to Gotham.
Staring at the slice of toast on her pate, Jennifer reached over and poked at it with a finger, before giving a sigh and reaching up her hand to rub at her head. No school today. Nope. She was going to go home and do some serious recovery.
There were kids in the booth behind her, and honestly Jennifer wasn't listening to their conversation. She didn't care, it was just that certain words always caught her attention, among them seance, and summoning and succubus. Really. She tried to ignore the conversation going on behind her, because it was the season for all those words to get thrown around after all. But despite herself she found herself listening in, and then she found herself digging in her purse for a pen and making some notes on her napkin as the kids in the booth behind her talked on and on and on ...
Her toast got cold, and so did her coffee. By the time the kids were done talking her headache had gone up a level, but she had the vague outlines of a plan, on how she was going to stop what these kids were planing. Seriously - trying to magic up a date? Lame. If you asked her it would have been so much easier for them just hire an escort.
