Visiting Providence
Who: Doctor Doom, Cable, and open to anyone at Providence.
When: Sept 26, 2012
Where: Providence, off the coast of Hawaii
What: Doctor Doom goes sniffing at the new island on 'his' planet.
Rating: PG, sure.
The gulls were quick to find Providence, circling its gleaming white piers and towers. They searched the water for the fish that gathered beneath such structures, throaty shrieks adding to the sound of the ocean lapped constantly at the smooth, foreign material of the walls.
The birds were not pleased at the nine robots that suddenly zoomed toward the structure, fanning out suddenly. They looked like beetles, metallic backs green and little instruments dangling below their hovering bodies. Swiftly they circled the island, each spiraling in place as they ascended, a laser array flashing quickly over the structures. They paused a brief instant then rushed to the West side of the island, spiraling together into a pattern before lighting on the deck. There they sat, the lens of their eyes staring out, and only if prodded would they make an annoyed, metallic warbling and two little instruments would crackle with little sparks in warning where mouths might have been. Otherwise, they did not move.
It was nearly another fifteen minutes before they scrambled and hovered to the side. Energy had started to gather at that point, easily sensed, and then seen as a circular disc of alchemic patterns lit the air. First blue, then red with dark purple laced its pattern, then filled with a watery vision of a separate room and a person. Then suddenly the figure was standing there, the portal still humming behind him as he folded his arms and looked left, then right sharply.
The two hundred pounds of armor added a real weight to his steps as he began to pace along the 'deck' of the island, glancing at the distance to the waves below before looking up at the rest of the huge structure. The robots scurried into a neat line and laid still, almost as though they were powered down. The portal's hum died and the light blipped from existence, leaving the Latverian monarch to explore this new island.
He didn't look pleased. But ... that mask never looked pleased.
