Logan wasn't entirely sure how he'd gotten the reputation for being good with kids. He generally wasn't good with anyone, especially not when he was dealing with a body he couldn't remember ever having, but apparently was his; it made him surlier than usual, and more inclined to go off to his own brooding. Had that been normal for him? Or was it just his normal reaction to anything he couldn't stab?
But he supposed when it came to hard-case loners, you sent him after them because at least he got it: they wanted to be alone and if everyone had it their way, they would be. But life wasn't fair like that.
That, or Baldy was just horrible at leaving things be: sometimes, you couldn't talk about feelings or even what had happened, especially not with a kind-faced telepath in a wheelchair.
Either way, he was glad to get out of the mansion, but that was about the extent of the benefits of being set to find Rogue a few days after she'd survived her "challenge" or whatever the twisted alien was calling them. Cerebro even gave him enough of a coordinate so that he didn't have to search all of New York for her; once he hit the right street, he wandered into the various bars until he caught her scent, and then there she was.
The bouncer actually stopped him, but he wasn't letting appearances or a muscle-headed idiot stand between him and beer. That, and he figured it had to be damn near impossible to verify IDs these days. In no time, he was sliding onto the stool next to her, dropping a twenty on the bar in front of the bartender. "Two Buds, or whatever she's drinking." She didn't want to come back, well, he wasn't going to twist her arm, but least he could do was buy her a drink before she chased him off.
