He was just watching some street performers play. They were doing a fairly good pop routine, and Teddy was happy to toss a dollar into the hat as a guy went around to some of the rest of the crowd. The blond tucked his wallet into his jeans, not bothering to load it into the backpack, and just smiled happily, watching.
Then was bumped. He instantly apologized, even though he hadn't been the one to move, then realized with a start where he had been bumped at, hand flying to his pocket.
Blue eyes shot up, until he spot the wiry, kid, not much younger than him, trying to slink away through the other onlookers. "Hey!" he barked, hurrying through the onlookers toward him.
The kid started to run without even turning around. Yeesh! Teddy peeled after him, wheeling around a corner of a building. His arm extended out, longer than a normal person's would, and whipped the kid about by his shoulder. "Give it ba-."
Pain. To the kid's credit, he had kicked perfectly, one smooth move as he was wheeled about. To Teddy's discredit, he had forgotten the old rule of always keep your torso to the side a bit to protect sensitive areas.
His hand hit the cement to keep him from falling into a curled up fetal position, breathless. He heard the kid running away again. By the time Teddy's vision cleared and he could breathe again, he knew the kid was around the next corner.
Teddy was normally very nice. Normally. There were a few things that ticked off his well-held temper, though. And unlike the pickpocket, Teddy had more endurance due to being able to expand his lungs as much as was needed.
So by the time the kid slowed and started to relax, looking behind himself but not seeing the blond kid and starting ahead easily again, suddenly he was letting out a yelp on Fifth Avenue, grabbed by the arm and spun about. Teddy's hair had become blond and his face back to normal in that instant, so the kid didn't even get a chance to see the change. A brief scuffle, and he had the kid by his foot, dangling him and giving him a shake (a much gentler one than he felt like giving the pickpocket).
