Truthfully, Conner only came because he never got asked to go anywhere with Clark for things like this. So, he knew that Clark was trying to make an effort and it was very clear that fishing was an important bonding activity that meant something to him. He wasn't about to tell him he didn't want to go fishing. If he'd been honest, fishing was the last thing he thought of on a list of things to have a good time and bond.
Still, Conner put forth effort. He listened intently to Clark's instruction and he hooked his bait, cast his line, and waited. And waited. And waaaaited. He offered Clark a smile and gave him a nod. Leaning to the side, he pulled out his phone and stared at the screen. He frowned. He raised it up trying to see if the signal would change. "...do they not have 4G around here?" He was going to die.
