Who: Helen, Menelaus
What: Meeting for the first time
When: Way back in ancient Greece
Throughout her childhood, Helen had been widely sought by numerous suitors. She had even been abducted by Theseus when she was just a child and hidden away, originally until she was old enough to wed. Her brothers, Castor and Pollux, weren't having any of that and thanks to them Helen had been saved and brought home to Sparta. When she was of age and ready to marry, Tyndareus organized a contest. Whoever won would take Helen as his bride. The winner of said contest was Menelaus, whose brother Agamemnon fought in his place. Helen had yet to meet her future husband. She had had more suitors than could be organized to meet individually, so it only made sense to wait until after the contest was won.
Helen was swept away from Sparta, taken to meet her soon-to-be-husband. It was one of the few times in her life she felt truly nervous. She had only been a child the year before, now she was being taken away to be married. She and her husband were due to rule over Sparta, but the wedding itself would take place in Mycenea. The trip there was spent much in isolation, with only Agamemnon to converse with. She had complimented him on his bravery and expressed her excitement in meeting Menelaus. Helen hid her nerves rather well.
When they finally reached the city, Helen could feel her heart attempting to break free of her chest. She could see a line of figures, awaiting their arrival. She took in a deep breath and closed her eyes for a moment to collect her thoughts, ease her nerves. She was a Spartan. She was strong, noble. This was nothing more than a meet and greet. Except that she was about to meet the man she would marry and that was something to be nervous about! When the carriage came to a halt she looked at Agamemnon, who climbed out first and then offered his hand to escort the lady from the carriage. A slightly shaking hand reached out and Helen emerged, blinded by the sun. She blinked, looking around at all the unfamiliar faces, as Agamemnon lead her to where Menelaus waited.
