Plenty of times Rosario knew what was gonna come out of Lyra's mouth even before she'd opened it. And Lyra, Lyra got what Rosario was saying even when she didn't know how to say it. It was like a language only the two of them shared, like a binary pair orbiting so close their matter blurred together.
Not now, though. Right now, Rosario had no idea what Lyra was going to say next, whether she was gonna go more and more fantastical, clinging to the safety of the delusion, or whether she was gonna break suddenly and the true horror was gonna come pouring out.
