The quiet ease of the room was so markedly different to what had just gone before, that it felt like a completely different time. But there was something safe about lying in Merlinβs arms like she was, something she would be happy to let go on. But she also was very aware of overstaying her welcome. This, after all, was not their usual routine.
βI should probably go,β she said, but didnβt actually make any move.
βRest, itβs alright,β he said in reply. Maybe some hold-over of her obeying his word would work on her, and she would just accept his suggestion. βYou just lay here nice and safe for a while, and then Iβll get us a cup of tea and some cake.β
Luna nodded, her cheek shifting slightly against his chest. βIβd like that,β she told him quietly, closing her eyes and drawing herself a little closer to him. She could handle lying here for a little longer, and she could handle tea and cake. Maybe that was all she could handle right now.
