Since her freakout in Sedona at the beginning of the week, Marian had not left the house again. She'd gone outside in the yard a few times, but each time she did it was like there was a great pressure weighing down on her, a fear that the demon was about to step out of the bushes. She'd taken to sitting on a chair half inside the house, close enough to slam it shut if she needed to.

Mostly she stayed inside, and started to open the board games that the Sheriff had given her. There were some entertaining things in there, and they helped to pass the hours with just the two of them together. She'd gotten more into cooking for them both, now that she could stand for longer periods of time. Her burns were needing less care with each day, and they pained her very little now as long as she didn't poke at them. Sleeping was easier, at least physically.

When the sheriff appeared in the doorway to the kitchen, Marian said, "I think I'm going to make lasagna tonight."

	Kissing Marian was the first time Malcolm felt right in over a century. All the awful things he had done, they faded away. Because he had something good and real and true. His arms held her close, his hand reaching up into her hair as he kissed her deeply. God, it was an answer to his prayers. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Pretend it's Robin, Marian told herself, clinging desperately to that single idea. Just pretend that it's Robin, and he's kissing you, and everything is going to be okay.

But it was so hard to pretend, so hard to kiss him back and imagine her love. It didn't help that Marian didn't even know if Robin was still her love anyway. The last six months of their relationship they'd barely even seen each other, and when they had it had been tense or outright antagonistic. He was never going to forgive her for Guy, not really.

And he was never going to forgive her for this either.

Kissing the Sheriff, leaning into him, holding him close to her: these were choices that Marian was going to have to answer to one day.

If she ever got the chance.

Marian felt lightheaded. Marian felt sick.

She smiled at him, and hoped it looked delicate and sweet and not on the verge of becoming a breakdown.

(Marian could not afford to breakdown. She had decided on this action and it was working. It would all be worth it.)

"If you want," she told him easily. God, she wasn't sure she could focus on making food without burning it. She looked back towards the kitchen, wishing it would offer her the solution to all this. "I've never actually made lasagna."

A lie, but Marian wasn't sure why. What was she trying to gain from it? Actually focusing on any single thought felt almost impossible.

I want to be home! Marian thought desperately as he smiled at her and she made herself smile back. The uncomfortableness of the smile she hoped would be seen her being coy or shy. I want to be home and safe and away from here!

She swallowed the sick lump in her throat and told him, "I'd like that."

This is home now, she reminded herself firmly. This is your home.

	Malcolm grinned and he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a passionate kiss. He had butterflies in his stomach. He couldn't remember the last time that had happened to him. If ever. "Let's," Marian agreed breathlessly, but for very different reasons to him. She thought she might have tried to act seductive and sexy for this, but Marian honestly didn't know how to do those things. She wasn't the type of girl who put on lacy lingerie and purred her words and gave smoldering glances. She'd never needed to be, because she had spent almost her whole life with Robin, who already knew what she was like. Neither of them needed anything special to seduce the other. Just a smile from Robin was enough for Marian to want him.

And so she let the Sheriff take the lead, let him lead her up the stairs - each step like a rolling thunder threatening on the horizon, each step one that was leading her towards that storm.

The only way out was through.

	Malcolm led her to his bedroom, and once there, he pulled her in for a kiss. He didn't need seduction, he was already seduced just by her being who she was. He settled his hands on her hips and pulled her close, deepening the kiss as his hands slid up under her shirt to her back, to try to find the clasp of her bra. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Stay calm, Marian told herself, kissing him back because it was the right move. Just think of this like all those plans where you played the damsel. Just remember that this is all part of a greater plan, and why you're doing it. She thought about Will and his torn up leg, his face getting paler and paler as time went on, thinner and thinner. Doing this stopped that from happening again.

And so she kissed the Sheriff and let him undo her bra and didn't pull away from him, even though this made her sick to the stomach.

Marian honestly didn't think that he would physically harm her. Of that she was likely safe, though she also didn't know how his tastes ran in the bedroom. She'd never wanted to even consider that sort of thing.

Would he actually have stopped if she told him she was in pain?

It was a week ago that she had been rescued from torture, and her body still bore the marks of that. "Just-" she licked her lips, nervously. "Just be careful of the burns." They were covered, but the idea of too much friction made her flinch.

No, he wouldn't hurt her intentionally. He'd saved her from that pain and she was still grateful, even if that feeling confused her.

While he kissed her body, Marian squeezed her eyes shut and tried to think of Robin again, tried to remember the last time she'd been with him like this.

It had been a long time, since before she told him about Guy. That had been in May, and he'd not looked at her the same since. Marian knew that he considered her tainted now - hard not to know when Robin had made it so clear in words and actions.

The thought of Robin didn't bring her the comfort she hoped it would, and so she just brought herself back to the room and back to the arms of the Sheriff.

Marian was going to scream. Marian thought if she were any less of a born and bred heroic type, she might have started screaming and never ever stopped.

So instead of trying to think about Robin and the goodness they'd once had, she instead made herself think of the things the demon had done to her. Focus on how much nicer this is, she told herself calmly, as her body reacted unwillingly to the Sheriff's tongue against her nipple. Think how much nicer to have your body treated with tenderness and care. Don't think about who it is, or what this is. Think about how this is better.

She could do that. She could lift her hips to help him remove her pants, and she could just try and relax and breath and examine how much more pleasant this was than burning pokers or drowning or electricity.

Malcolm leaned up for just a second, to reach for his nightstand where his condoms and lube were. He grabbed one and then he pushed his own trousers off, already hard just from touching and kissing her. He applied the condom and went back to kissing her breasts, moaning deep in his throat.

God, he had wanted this for so long, he had to slow down or he was going to explode the second he-

Malcolm lubed himself up and sunk in to Marian with a groan of satisfaction. He shuddered and hissed and breathed and kissed her chest and thrust once and came-

"FUCK!"

There was a chance that this could turn badly very quickly (almost as quickly as that had been) and so Marian reached up and smoothed his hair off his face tenderly. She smiled at him, warm like the sun, hating to give him that even as she did.

"It's okay," she assured him. "Just first time nerves." Then she leaned up to kiss him and didn't even bite his tongue off.

Marian lay beside him and rested her hand on his chest. "It's okay," she told him again. "We've got plenty of time together."

Plenty of time, years stretching out forever, plenty of time for him to sleep with her again and again and- She cut the thought of violently, and made herself remember the feeling of the cattle prod.

Being kissed was better. Didn't matter who was doing it, it was better than a cattle prod over and over.
