WHO Artemis and Hermes
WHEN Monday evening
WHERE Hermes and Peitho’s apartment
WHAT You killed my brother (spoiler: he didn’t)
WARNINGS PUNCHING, brief mention of sexual assault
She still tasted the blood on her tongue. Blood and bile, a knife ripping up through the soft flesh of the belly, echoes of Apollo’s final, violent moments reverberating through the connection the twins shared. Ask Hermes what he knows. Melpomene’s advice, ever sharp-eyed. Apollo beat him to a pulp recently. With that revelation, Cassandra’s mad ravings had fallen into place. The sun makes his own bed. Apollo had punished Hermes for trying to force himself on Clio, and Hermes in turn had decided to avenge himself on Apollo. Artemis became more certain of it by the moment, as she readied her bow and her quiver, as she secreted a cutlery drawer’s worth of hunting knives about her person. They were mostly just for the intimidation factor. Artemis intended to kill Hermes with her bare hands. By the time she’d made it downtown, her rage had coalesced into something icy and black. She stalked into Hermes’ building, all furious purpose, a huntress with her prey in sight. When Hermes opened his apartment door, for the second time in as many months, he was greeted with a punch in the throat. |
