Phantasos wasn't entirely sure what to expect when he arrived at the Kemp house, but he managed to grin at Thomas when the man answered the door anyway. "Well hello!" Thomas said cheerily. "Sorry, I was going to call you by name, but I always worry I'll say it wrong."

Phantasos barked out a laugh and he patted Thomas' shoulder. "I will accept a humorous nickname," he said with a wink. "Or I mean...there's always Tas. Or Phant. Or Ant."

"Ant, hmm? Phanty?"

"Now see here!" Phantasos said, pretending to be offended. "I go by Erik at school, but Kat calls me Tas." He shrugged and glanced towards the stairs. "Jamie up there?"

"As far as I know, he said, trying to pretend he doesn't know exactly where Jamie is pretty much every moment of every day," Thomas grinned. "Here, bring him snacks." Then Thomas shoved three bags of chips into Phantasos' arms.

"I will see that he eats every last crumb," Phantasos said with a nod, before heading up to Jamie's room. When he reached the door, he hesitated and then called out. "Jamie? I'm uh...overladen with chips..."

	Jamie snorted. "They did, sometimes there was music, a la 'Be Our Guest'." He shrugged. "It's nice to be interested in someone, and not feel like a thundercloud all the time. Phantasos' grin widened even more and he made a 'well how about that' face. "I have wings too. Just as an aside. When I want to, I have wings, which is pretty cool."

Sure it was stalling, but at least it was cute stalling? "I'm just glad to see you happier. And yeah, totally, we should go out. Oh! we could go to one of those places where you paint mugs and dishes or whatever!"

	Phantasos pulled away a little and laughed. "Please never change that," he said fondly. "I just didn't think you'd be interested because I'm...well...old." Jamie opened his mouth, then closed it again. "You know, I didn't really think about that," he said thoughtfully. "I mean, I knew that, in the back of my mind. I just...don't really think about it, I guess? It's not terribly important to me, I guess."

He laughed. "Oh, I'm sure you're right. And she'll want to glee in your face a little, hang on." He pulled out his phone. 'Come down to my room.'

About a minute later, footsteps skidded to a halt outside his door, there was a perfunctory knock, and Roxanna spilled inside. "What's going on?" she asked, looking around at the pair of them.

"We're gonna go out sometime soon," Jamie told her, and he couldn't stop the smile starting to spread across his face.

She whooped, hugging the both of them and laughing in joy. "I told you! I told you it'd be fine. Did you tell him about the-" Jamie clapped a hand over her mouth.

"It'll be a fun surprise for later," he told her in French. Her eyes widened, then crinkled, and she nodded. Jamie took his hand away.

Phantasos had revelled in the hugs and laughter, pleased he had such wonderful friends. He had struggled for a long time to find people to be close to outside his siblings, and now he had these people and he adored them.

To the comment though, he raised his eyebrows and snorted. "I can speak French," he laughed. "But I'll let you keep your naughty secrets. I like surprises."

"You have to teach me all the fun words, because she won't," Jamie said, jerking a thumb at Roxanna and pouting cutely.

Roxanna cocked her head, then stuck it out the door. "Jamie, did you-I thought I heard your dad yelling something."

Jamie's eyebrows furrowed together. "I'll go check, hang on."

As soon as he was gone, she closed the door behind him. "I can't believe he actually bought that," she muttered, then turned around to face Phantasos.

"You probably know what I'm going to say," she said, calmly, at a normal volume. "Theseus broke Jamie's heart into so many pieces, and he's only now starting to put them back together. So believe me, I'm thrilled that he feels this way about someone else now. But if you send him back to that place, I swear on fucking Styx that I will make you regret that choice." She knew that that was the highest oath of the Greek gods, and she made it anyway.

"So please don't make me do that," she said, in a much lighter tone. "You're a great person. I love spending time with you. I do not want it to come to that, I want to make faces at you two behind your back and shout things in Greek. That's always more fun."

Phantasos wasn't used to Roxanna being terrifying and his eyes widened as she threatened him and swore on Styx. "Hey, no," he said, trying to sound reassuring. "I want to seriously harm Theseus for what he did to Jamie too. Honestly. If this doesn't work out we'll still be friends and it will not be because I snuck off in the middle of the night like an asshole. But I hear you. I swear on Styx I'll do whatever I can to keep Jamie safe and happy."

"I think Thomas might knock you down to get a crack at him, but fair enough," she replied. "And I really didn't think you would, but it still needed to be said. I can't-I can't tell you how many nights I've woken up to hear him crying because he thinks no one's listening. Or how often we just slept in the same bed because neither one of us wanted him to be alone. But you, no. I think it could work out really well. He deserves to be happy."

Jamie opened the door and spotted the pair of them. "Are you guys plotting to take over the world?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "Roxie, I think you might be hallucinating, but apparently there is ranch dip in the fridge to have with chips. Also I'm thirsty, so, kitchen?"

"Right behind you," she agreed.

	Roxanna describing what Jamie had been through honestly broke Phantasos' heart and he was about to say something else when Jamie walked through the door. He decided to leave it there because kitchen trips were grand. "Sounds great," he said happily, joining in. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
