Who: David, Roxanna, Jayden, Jamie, Phantasos, Julia
What: Dance, dance, dance, til you drop (featuring David dancing in heels!)
When: Saturday afternoon
Where: Dance studio, then a diner
Warnings: Uh...doubtful. Pretty sure.
David's mother had hugged him and wished him luck as he left the house. Leaving at 11:15 meant that hopefully the train would get him to the studio by noon, but she didn't need to be there nearly so early. Thankfully, the trains were, in fact, running on time, and David blew into the studio a bit before noon. The exhibition didn't start until 2, but they needed time to get ready, stretch, warm up, and rehearse at least once before they went on.
He made his way backstage, which was utter chaos. Someone was playing a song from the Hamilton soundtrack, makeup and hairspray were mingling to form a cloud in the air, and there was a hum of frantic, excited energy that permeated the place. David pulled on his tights and shirt for their first number, checking that his shoes, top, and leggings were safely tucked away for their trio about three-fourths of the way through the show. He flexed his feet a few times. His legs were going to be put through their paces today, but he was ready for it.
Around 1:30, Jamie pulled up to a parking spot a few blocks away from the studio, having cut someone off to get it, because gods knew he didn't want to park even further away. They leaned on their horn and swore, but he just flipped them off and shut off the car. He'd volunteered to drive, mostly because he'd been able to borrow Aidan's car, which could fit everyone, even if it was a bit of a squeeze. At least no one had to sit on top of anyone else.
"Alright, everyone out, he declared. "Roxie, which way are we going? I got all turned around trying to find somewhere to park."
"I'm on it," she replied, plugging the address into Google Maps. After a few moments, she turned and pointed. "That way," she told everyone, and she set off at a brisk clip.
