WHO: Mary & Huitzilopochtli
WHEN: Wednesday mid-morning (2011-12-10)
WHERE: Their place
WHAT: Romantic murdering gestures and the like
WARNINGS: tba?
After making a casual comment to Patrick about how impressive it was that he'd been with John for a year, Mary had done her own calculations.
Ten months. That was how long it had been since that night she'd tricked Huitzilopochtli into bed with her. Ten months and she had been faithful to one man. Mary had never done that before in her entire very long life. Yes, she flirted almost daily with other men and she'd kissed quite a few before forcing herself (almost painfully) to stop, but she had slept with no one else.
It felt... well, it felt good. Sometimes Mary looked in the mirror now and inspected her face and what she saw wasn't a whore. It wasn't a woman made of sin and disgusting worthless desires. In a very strange way, it felt like Huitzilopochtli had made Mary into the woman she was meant to be, the woman redeemed of sin that Jesus had loved so long ago. She didn't know what Jesus would think of all this, but she hoped he was glad that she had found happiness even if it wasn't with him but with some heathen. She'd never stop loving that man she'd known in Galilee, but her Aztec had rescued her from the loneliness she had been drowning in.
She'd spent the night before at her own apartment - something she did a least a few times a month. She may have been happy with Huitzilopochtli but she was still a creature who needed solitude and space. Eventually she knew it would have to be more and she'd go on one of her walks across the country, leaving him behind for however long she needed it. She knew though that she would return.
At the Aztec building, Mary lingered in the kitchen and chatted with a couple of the warriors before finally making her way up towards that bird-filled room where they'd said their Lord was. "Hi," she said from the doorway, giving him a gentle smile.
Huitzilopotchli had been drifting in and out of his thoughts for the past day. He felt a bit guilty over having killed Judas, if only because the man had shown such fear. None of his warriors feared death. They believed he would embrace hem as his birds, and even not they still considered it an honor to die for him. He had never seen such fear.
So when he heard Mary's voice he lifted his head, having sat so still the birds only now realized he wasn't a perch and flew off. "Hello," he returned and rose to walk to her. He took her hand and set the lock of hair and wallet into it. "It is done." He frowned, "although your people have an odd concept of just punishment if one is to die with the amount of fear this man died with."

Mary looked down at the items before recognizing the red of the hair and who it must belong to. She flipped open the wallet and the ID there confirmed it. She closed it again and raised her head to look at him, her expression unreadable and closed.
"He deserves it," Mary said. "I only hate that I couldn't do it myself." Mary had been so sure she had it in her, to be a killer when it came to Judas. But it seemed that even with him she couldn't become that person.

He gave a shrug, "I cannot judge. I felt bad. Fear is a horrible thing to die in. I do not understand it." Even he did not fear the inevitable time when he knew he would die. He accepted it, as any warrior should. The fear he could not understand.
"It's done either way," he set his hand on her cheek, "some things we ask help with. And you asked. I could not say no." Smiling he released her, "but I left him his heart. I didn't think you'd want it."

"I don't," Mary agreed with a slow shake of her head. She didn't need trophies of his death, just that it had happened. He deserved that, didn't he? (Mary hated the doubt she felt now, spurred on my the fact that her blood-thirsty Aztec felt guilty about doing it.)
"If you knew our Hell you'd understand the fear." Mary had no fear of Hell, but it wasn't because she wasn't sinner. She had always believed that despite what Jesus had always told her she would go below when her time came. But she had died and of that time Mary remembered.... nothingness. She had simply ceased to be. No Hell but nor was there any Heaven. Of all the times she had died never had she seen even a glimpse of the infinite. She knew that it was there, but just as she knew that Mary also knew that she would never be allowed to see it. She was trapped on earth until mankind forgot her and then she would just disappear.
Perhaps that was why she didn't feel so bad about killing Judas. She somehow didn't believe he'd get to see Hell either, even if he deserved it.
Mary watched him carefully. "You know that you don't have to do anything I tell you to do, if it upsets you?"

"I know this," he moved to a seat and sat down, letting a few of his birds hover over his fingers. "You wanted justice and vengeance however and I gave it." He shook his head, "I have heard many things of your Hell. My people were often told to repent for sins they weren't even aware of, and how they too would face this Hell. For a people built on something that is supposed to be about forgiveness, you have an odd way of punishing those who often do not deserve it.
"I am unused to feeling bad about a kill. I do not think I will ever like teachings that make anyone so afraid." He watched the birds for a while, "I did tell him this would be the end of it. If he looks for you I'll discourage him, but if you look him out when he returns I will not kill him again."

"Christianity isn't about forgiveness," Mary said with an angry shake of her head. "It's about fear. Jesus believed in forgiveness and love and acceptance, but they forget that."
Mary lowered her eyes in thought and told herself that his terms wouldn't be a problem. She had no need to seek out Judas. But even as she said it... something hidden down deep stirred and Mary couldn't be so sure. Finally she looked up and nodded. "I understand. Thank you for doing what I couldn't."

He gave her an odd look, "And you say I'm strange because of my diet. At least I am not letting anyone tell lies." He shook his head, he would change it if he had the power. But he didn't.
He studied her and smiled, extending his hand. He understood more then she gave him credit for, "come here? I have missed you."

Mary didn't really have a response to that. She was the last one to try and defend whatever it was Christians chose to do.
When he smiled at her Mary smiled at well and reached out for his hand as she came towards him. She nuzzled for a moment against his throat and then looked up, her expression curious. "Do you know we've been together ten months?" she asked. "I've never been with anyone that long."

He kissed the top of her head when she nuzzled before coaxing one of the birds to land on her hand. At her comment he tilted his head, "really? I did not know." He gave half a grin, "I'd like to think it's just because of how amazing I am." He was a God, ego came with that. "Should I give you something?" He wasn't sure how this worked, he was just glad she was with him, regardless of her history or the things her myth forced on her.

"You are pretty amazing," Mary agreed with a grin, wrapping her arms around him properly. She shook her head at his question and said, "no, I don't need presents. Besides, I don't think ten months is a big one."

"What is then?" He wanted to know so he could at least try to do this the right way. That and he did like giving her things. She seemed to enjoy receiving gifts as well.

"A year," Mary considered. "Six months is also one for presents. But mostly these are for if you're married, I believe." She'd never really had much chance for the romantic gift giving.

He nodded, setting his free arm around her. "A year then." He could remember that and make sure that his warriors reminded him just in case. He had never done any of this before, and he wanted to get it as right as he could.

"I believe diamonds are in order," Mary told him but then she laughed. "But that's a joke. I don't want diamonds. You see how much jewelry I wear." She always felt like wearing expensive jewels was just asking for trouble. The only things she wore with any regularity were the necklaces and earrings that he had given to her early on.

He'd frowned for a moment. He could get diamonds it would just be tricky. Then he realized she was joking and smiled, "oh. I would still get them if you wanted me to. But I'll find something." Probably something in blue, but he was biased. He tended to like her in his color.

"I'll have to think of what to get you then," Mary said as she kissed his throat. What did one get for the Aztec god of war?

He tipped his head up before glancing to her, "knives. Or blades. More feeders for the birds." He shrugged, "I do not consider myself that hard to buy a gift for, even if you forgo the traditional one."

"Knives and birdfeeders," Mary smiled with a little amusement. "You are the strangest boyfriend." And there would be sex, but Mary figured that was a given. There was always sex.

Laughing he set both his arms around her, "I think you pronounced greatest wrong." Smiling he kissed her temple before raising one hand to toy with her hair.
