Who: Thor and Sif
When: Early Thursday afternoon, April 3rd
What: Thor is a construction worker and he's got a crew tearing up walls near Sif's salon!
Where: Construction site/Sif's salon
Warnings: Hello there big guy, your wife is here!
Status: Incomplete

Once Thor had learned that Jenny wasn't Sif but his daughter there were some weird things going on. Loki had brewed a whole storm of issues after he'd kidnapped the girl. He hadn't run into her again and he expected in some way she was probably going to stay gone for some time now. Thor was a bit depressed over it, the frown on his face hung a little lower. His Norsy senses had completely derailed him, driving home the fact that the only thing he had to look at from his old life was his hammer and Loki's ugly, conniving face.

He and his boys had set up camp next to a hair salon, starting on the bare bones of a building that had no name yet. It was just a pile of rubble, brick, concrete and wood with men in hardhats.

He pushed her away and it felt like he'd hit her. It reverberated through her and left her standing there numb.

"I-" she swallowed, looking back to the men and then to... no, not Thor. She couldn't allow it to be Thor. She couldn't allow herself to hope. "I have never meant to be in your way." Her voice caught and she moved quickly away from him, only not running because she forced herself to look even vaguely calm. She pushed through the other men as though they were nothing more than phantoms and outside the building she found the sunlight and fresh air and she drew it in thickly as though she'd never even seen it before.

Not Thor. Not her Thor. Just a man. Just a stranger. Just a builder who'd been unimpressed, who called her a whore.

But her stomach was still in knots and she reached up with her index finger to brush away the tears that threatened to ruin her makeup.

"Dude..." one of the younger guys said as Thor breezed past him. "So does that mean we don't get any coffee?" One of the elder men just motioned for them to get back to work because Deirk looked ready to punch his fist in a wall.

He'd caught a glimpse of her golden hair as she exited their area. He closed his eyes for a moment because the last time he'd assumed he knew her she had been something else even closer than a wife. She had been Jenny, and Jenny had been a daughter and there were some really unsettling thoughts there of how that affected him mentally.

Something hit his stomach as hard as that hammer. Maybe that coffee wasn't a bad idea.

"He can be rude sometimes."

Sif looked up to find one of the workmen there and she smiled a little tearfully. "I'm sorry," she demured with a shake of her head. "I- he just reminded me of someone I used to know. I'll get you all some coffees." She quickly went back into her own shop and out the back in the little kitchenette she sat at the table and cried.

Then, when she felt she was done with that (at least for now. Sif was always so easy to move to tears) she made enough coffees for them except for not-Thor. No need to disturb him more. No need to disturb herself more.

When she returned to the next door building it was with a bright smile, even if her eyes shone a little more than they'd done before. "Coffees," she announced, but didn't look for the man who made her body tense. She barely raised her eyes for fear of seeing him now.

She wasn't looking for him anymore. He hadn't opened his mind to the idea that he was dealing with another immortal, but he had opened his eyes. She stood up like a queen, not like a woman who'd just been told to stop with her foolish flirtations with the fellow workers. It still did not hide the tears she had cried which struck him in an unnerving way.

When she turned back towards her shop he blocked the way, arms crossed over his chest. She could see his face now which had not softened yet. "Who are you?"

Tall, strong, like a wall of a man in front of her now. Sif hesitated and then, with more bravery than she felt, she lifted her eyes to his.

Thor. The moment they locked eyes she had no doubt. It wasn't just his looks: her soul met his somewhere in the air between them. His presence rocked her and she felt her breath catch.

She had a name but she couldn't speak it. She couldn't say anything. She just drew herself to her full (not very impressive height) and didn't turn her proud gaze away.

You know who I am, was what she wanted to say.

(Please know who I am, was what she wanted to beg.)

His head twitched slowly to the side, eying her with great suspicion. She was resistant now, head held high as if her height could match his own. "Tell me who you are." It was unnerving him how she looked right through him. As if she knew.

He wasn't ready to give into that kind of hope again. He did know who she was but a part of him wasn't ready to say it for the thought that she would deny it.

Sif opened her mouth to speak but then realised they weren't alone. She spared a glance towards the other men there, now watching the two of them, before meeting his gaze again. These men didn't matter but it was best not to bring gods into it. She kept her voice low anyway. "You were searching for a woman once," she said to him. "And instead you found me. You came inside from the cold and watched me brush my hair in front of the fire. You loved me once."

Jenny wouldn't have known that. She was just a girl. This...this was someone that knew him. He'd juggled the idea that maybe Sif had just forgotten him, maybe it was why he couldn't find her. He had wondered into the snow-capped mountains the night he'd met her expecting to take home a different bride. Instead it had been her.

Only she would know that. He didn't speak her name with all those eyes and ears but his eyes spoke for him.

"Thor," she finally whispered, the name barely even audible. Her eyes were pleading though. Please speak to me, please know me, please forget everything in this world but never me.

She said his name as if it could knock down barriers. He was heavily guarded in his mind, but it sunk through, even just a little. Once he'd imagined she didn't know him, thought he was crazy. Here he was the one skeptical, he wanted to believe her. He reached out to grab a small handful of her golden hair, letting it fan out against his fat fingers.

"Wife," he looked a little hopeful once he looked up from the hair splayed between his fingers to her face. His words were not as soft as hers, because there was some uncertainty still.

There was a part of Sif that wanted to back away when he took hold of her hair like that, such a possessive gesture from a man. But Thor had always loved that hair, had always thought of it as a thing that added to his own glory and Sif always saw that.

"Only 'wife'," she asked him quietly, biting her lip. "Don't I even get a name anymore, after all these years of waiting for you?"

His eyes scanned her again, taking in the fact that this was no mirage fooling him. She wasn't Loki, he hoped at least. Even if it was Thor was gullible.

"Sif," her name was a hiss, a slight depth to his tinge because Their always had that rough, deep and garbled voice. It was partof the giant he was.

She smiled brightly just at hearing her name. Little else seemed to matter right then, although it would later. Just her name. Thor was here, and he knew her. She reached out and put her hand on his cheek. "Thor," she whispered.

"You are real...don't be Loki playing another trick on me." It wasn't fair to him, the universe was cruel but Thor would bring down Ragnarok if this was indeed another foolish trick.

Sif's lip very almost curled at the mention of Loki - the only other she'd seen in New York, and she wished it hadn't been the case. "I'm no Loki," Sif promised him. "I'm flesh and blood, and I'm your wife."

He needed proof. More solid than this. What he felt, what he saw could still be a strong illusion. He'd believed he'd seen her before, he just needed to be sure. He wasn't sure how to ask her that, but there were things more intimate between a husband and wife. He looked at her face fir the longest time, diving into her eyes and remembering every facet of it so he didn't forget again.

"Thor," she whispered, daring to reach up and put her hand gently on his cheek. "I had almost given up my search for you. Don't doubt me now that I've found you."

"I have my reasons." He couldn't stand it if he fell prey to some sick illusion again. He wasn't sure his heart could take that. He closed his eyes again, his forehead thumping against hers, but he wouldn't look again just yet. He wanted Sif to be real. This was a struggle for him, and if she was Sif she'd know just how to calm that unsettling in his veins.

"Husband love," she said, the words fall off her tongue in the language of their lost and far away land. This close to him she could smell his scent, could feel his breath on her face. "I have been seeking you so long and so far."

"Why hide from me for so long?" As if she'd been keeping herself a secret from him. Worse than that, that she didn't want to find him. His eyes squeezed tightly, feeling his words choke in his throat.

Sif's smile was warm and gentle, rubbing her soft thumb over his cheek. "I've never hid," she promised, "and here I am."

She heard now the whispers of the other workers, pretending they weren't really watching them. Sif spared them a quick glance and then to Thor she said, "Please, let's go somewhere less public?"

The guys never saw Derek with anyone, let alone a woman. He looked as if he could crush them with his bare hands, so they never really questioned it. This one however had somehow managed to sway him away from work all together. He even left with her without saying a word! He just....walked off. They didn't dare ask him now, but there would definitely be something to talk about come the next work day.

Thor took his lady love's hand. She could still be a guise, and he had fallen for it again. He would be a fool then.

Just his hand in hers felt wonderful and she couldn't help the small sigh of happiness that escaped her lips. Then she smiled and drew him outside and into the hair salon next door. Her co-workers looked at her and Sif just shook her head quickly, dragging the massive man behind her until they were outside again in the small makeshift courtyard that the girls used for their lunches.

Only then did she stop and turn to look at Thor again, refusing to let go of his hand. Her smile was bright and huge and she laughed, surprisingly herself with the sound. "I can't believe this is happening!"

Thor couldn't say much, he wasn't sure why to say. He was for lack of a better word----speechless. He stared at her for what was probably half an hour. It had been so long since he had thought to find her and then ultimately giving up his search when it failed.

Sif felt like he was in shock, or that he didn't really believe that she was there or- or a million other things. She wished she could read his thoughts exactly, wished she knew what he was thinking and if he was even actually glad to see her.

But she couldn't know any of that. What she could do though was use the hand she was holding and pull herself closer, lean up onto her toes and kiss his lips.
