Despite trying to get away from the life Hermes would have her lead, she still talked to her father on occasion. She knew she couldn't really get away with cutting him out of her life entirely, nor did she really want to.

They talked about the normal things; how her schooling was going, how his new great-granddaughter was, how business was succeeding. Then Hermes mentioned a daughter of his had shown up in the city and Julia sat up straight. She got a tiny bit of information out of him, namely the girl's location. Then Hermes decided he had more important things to do if his daughter wasn't going to be convinced to come back and work for him, and he left the cafe meaning Julia had to pay the bill.

The moment she left the cafe, Julia climbed into a cab to take her to the girl's dorm room. She talked her way inside and headed up to knock on the other girl's door. She needed to meet her. It was important.

"Joy," she muttered. "Then, like I said. Staying far away." She snorted. "She probably wouldn't like me much either, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't either, so we've got that in common too, I guess."

"Nice to meet you, Julia," she said. "And yeah, I'm doing...better than I was, even though I'm still sort of wrapping my head around everything. I googled him, and it's just like...he's kind of a creep, isn't he?"

	Julia let out a breath and when Roxanna described their father, she chuckled and smiled at her sister. "Yeah," she said, her lips lifting into a small grin, "he's a huge creep. "The way I figure, he was never involved in my life at all, so why should I even care, you know?" she asked. "It'd be nice to know why he left, but I think I sort of already know, either that, or he wouldn't tell me the truth."

Roxanna pulled a face. "God, he's sounding more and more awful the more I learn about him."

"Yeah," she said. "I did once, when I was a kid, like...10 years old. I put it out of my mind, repressed it or some shit, managed to forget about it. Then when I met Hecate, the creepy wife, she had them all over the place, and once you've been held prisoner by ghosts, you don't forget them."

"Fuck, you too?" she asked. "I was stealing things from the houses the shuffled me around to, half the time I didn't even want the fucking thing, but I couldn't seem to help myself. It's better now, but sometimes I have to remind myself that I'm really not cut out for prison."

"Well fucking hallelujah," Julia said flatly. "I don't see 'em, but that is some fucked up shit. I'm sorry," and she actually was. Knowing this girl had been hard done by their father already made her feel protective over her.

"I think it's part of being related to him," she said with a nod. "It's just in my blood. But I want to try to be better now. Like you said, prison sucks. He went to prison for awhile, but I was in Chicago while that happened. I don't want to end up there."

Roxanna sighed, smiling tiredly. "Thanks," she said. "I try and ignore them if I see them, and I can't really communicate with them, so what's the point? They don't bother me and I don't bother them." It was nice to have a somewhat normal conversation with someone who was in a similar situation, someone who was her sister and knew things she didn't. It made her feel better, that even if she had to be related to this strange god and his brood, maybe it wasn't all bad.

"Well that explains why he wasn't ever there," she muttered. "That part I didn't know. And I'm going to school, I'm majoring in music performance, because I wanted to do something I loved with my life. My adoptive parents are really great people, and they take great care of me."

"That's fucking wicked!" Julia said happily. "I can sing, but I play the guitar and bass. I love it. Been playing since I was five. Kept my mind off my mom and dad beating the living shit out of each other. Human dad I mean. He wasn't too happy when he found out his wife was fucking Hermes. Wasn't too happy when he found out I wasn't his either, but I had my music."
